N.E.W.T Challenge (Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Test) โ€“ August - October 2019

This is a Harry Potter themed challenge run by YouTuber/GR Member 'Book Roast'. Bookroast Video Link, Twitter: @MagicalReadthn . Bookroast does this as a month readathon in August, but we'll run as a 3 month challenge, to give members lots of time to plan and read for as many subjects as you can fit in!

******************
How it Works:
- There are 3 tests to pass for each subject: A = acceptable ; E = exceeded expectations ; O = outstanding
- You need to pass each test sequentially to "unlock" the next level etc. (ie. within each chosen subject, first get an 'Acceptable', then move on to 'Exceeded Expections', and then finally 'Outstanding'.
- Read a different book for each task, even if a book meets criteria for more than one.
- Strive for as many subjects as you can over the 3 months.

*************************
๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ NEW This Round ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ
The book Spellslinger has been revealed as a WILDCARD book that you can read and use to satisfy ANY task in the challenge (even if it doesn't naturally fit the task).
Group discussion thread for this book is here

Chloe Reads Books (chloee_matthews) Wahey, I'm glad you're running it for the three months! I'm going to be trying to pass as many as possible in August, but finish them all October!! We will see how it goes!

message 4: by Neo (new)

Neo (neosideralis) I think I'll join. :)
I took a look at G's wizarding careers for the NEWTs, so I think I'll use that as a start / guide for this challenge; especially as I'm not sure how much I'll manage to read.

message 5: by Erin (new)

Erin Germain (demiguise) I'll give this a try. August is a bit slower for my reading, but September and October will make up for it.

Good luck to everyone!

message 6: by Tiina (new)

Tiina (cauchemarlena) | 371 comments I'll definitely do my best to do it. I hope I will have plenty of books to read in Japan, but if not, this is still something fun to spread out over months.

Chloe Reads Books (chloee_matthews) With it being November now i just sat and made sure this was fully updated! I managed to complete 29 of the 36 challenges!!!

message 21: by Tiina (new)

Tiina (cauchemarlena) | 371 comments I finished 28/36, but I'm going to continue until I finish them all! I'm actually very surprised that I managed this much, considering that I hardly read anything in August and that my book options are so limited. I'm pretty sure I'll have to read Spellslinger for the first DADA level, since I can't think of any to order with 100% certainty. It pains me that the bookshops here don't carry books in English.

message 22: by Tiina (new)

Tiina (cauchemarlena) | 371 comments I finished it all on November 18th! I imagine that if I had had better access to books in August, I could have finished this challenge within three months! And I'm happy the book situation has sorted itself out and I have access to e-libraries and paperback books both.
