I'm enjoying the writing immensely.

I suppose it is worth noting that the book was published in 1934, the same year legislation was introduced to impose a speed limit of 30 mph in areas with street lighting, but new cars only had to have speedometers from 1937. So at the time of its writing, there were no limits apart from the capability of the car and the skill of the driver!

I was wondering just how 'fast' fast was. Apparently, Miss North's car is equipped with a speedometer, as she mentions that she's driving 60 mph at one point. (Of course, if you're on a narrow, curving, unpaved country lane, 30 mph is rather terrifying.)

I do like Nigel as our primary narrator, in any case.

Or was it made into a tv show??
