Hello Everyone!

Here is the discussion for the BOTM for July '19: Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1: No Normal!

I'm curious, do you still count a Graphic Novel as a book? Does it count towards your Goodreads Reading Challenge?

I have a hard time counting graphic novels as books, just because they are normally so short. But as a parent I have had to expand my thinking for myson as that is almost all he reads.
I do think it counted toward my reading challenge.

And I did read it! It counted as a "book outside of my comfort zone or genre" for my library's summer reading challenges. After reading it I decided my daughter would probably LOVE it. Me not so much. I have a hard time with graphic novels. I really want to read the Walking Dead, Umbrella Academy, and Buffy series but I just dont know if I can do it. I hope I will eventually be able to talk myself into trying! Maybe this was a good first step as I stuck through it 😁

so sorry about the late reply!!
Its great to hear that this pick pushed you out of your comfort zone and paid off - I really hope your daughter loves it, let us know! I also can't help but think that I would have loved this book as a teenager!

I still enjoyed it and I am thinking of carrying on with the series, but I am undecided as to whether to get the e-book version or the paper copy.

I would love to read more Marvel comics, as I am a massive fan of the MCU, so if anyone could recommend a starting point, I would really appreciate it!!
