It's the first of July and a short work week for many. What a great time to pick up a new book. With a Universe of Stories available, what will you choose to read next? Will the story defy space and time, transporting you to another world? Or will you choose to learn something new about this world?

I'll be staying close to home with Lost Birmingham. My family and I enjoy visiting forgotten, quirky, and historical places. Beverly Crider's book should lead us to some new to us locations.

I'm also reading Stuff Matters: Exploring the Marvelous Materials That Shape Our Man-Made World. Mark Miodownik explains how engineering has shaped our world from paper clips to jet engines from the ordinary stuff in our lives to the things that can carry us out of this world.

Let us know what you are reading or plan to read. Also, don't forget to log your books in https://homewood.beanstack.org.
