Errin Stevens (errintevens) | 97 comments It's tempting as a writer to put your work in KU because... Amazon, right? But the vast majority of writers get paid pennies through the program, so I don't do it.

On another topic, I just finished Trial by Moon by Lizzy Ford and am wondering if I should read the rest of the series or just skip to the last book? Anyone read it?

Monthly, I make more off KU than I do off individual sales but that's because my book is long. One reader who finishes my book on KU nets me more than someone who buys an ebook or paperback. The shorter the work, the less KU will net you.

With that said, a lot of authors do the same thing that TV shows do. They put the older stuff on KU as a way to let readers try out their writing without having to invest any more than a membership. However, for their newest release, they hold out a little in hopes of picking up a few sales and turning a small profit (probably to invest in their next book).

Chances are, when they release their next book, another book in the series will shift into KU. Just like how when a tv show releases a new season, the past season starts showing up on Hulu or Netflix.

Don't be too mad at indie authors for this. It's a route I wouldn't take personally, but there's a good reason they do it. That reason being, they make almost no profit on their books and have to try to turn a profit any way they can.

Shadow Dragon (spiritbones) | 9 comments most of the kindle books I have bought were because I had kept them on my KU list for a month or more. if a book isn't interesting enough for me to want to reread it, why buy it, I have done the same with libraries. if i kept a book long enough that i got more than a day's overdue fees, i bought a copy of it as i would be rereading it.

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 156 comments All of the series I read through KU are on there complete (or ongoing) so I'm not familiar with this.

I have the same experience regarding KU series. either the are all there or the next book is still being written.

Charlie Ireland | 1 comments Hello, everyone. I am new to Goodreads and am so excited to be here. I got involved because I wrote a short story called The Dark Side Of Sex. This will be a novella in the end. I just got it added to the library. If anyone gets a chance to read it I would love a review and to hear what you think. I look forward to getting to know you all.

I look forward to meeting people.

Charlie
