Welcome to the Group!

Raise your glasses to Sienna Mercer. Without her we wouldn't have My Sister the Vampire or My Brother the Werewolf. Without those two series this group wouldn't exist and I would have missed out on the chance to meet some awesome people. I might never have read Jane Austen or joined other groups on goodreads. My Sister the Vampire is there when you don't have time to read longer books, it's there when you're sad or happy. My Sister the Vampire is the book that got many people into books, including Daisy...speaking of.
Clap your hands for my co-moderator and co-creator of this group, Daisy. She introduced me to My Sister the Vampire and even though I came up with the idea for this group she is the real brains behind it. She's there when I'm writing a comment and can't remember which number Stake Out is (it's 12), she's there when I mis-remember Garrick as Gareth, she comes up with a lot of discussion and poll ideas and she has invited many, many people to this group.
People are the building blocks of any community (except ones with animals). You don't need a physical meeting place or a leader. Just a common goal. This group is a community. Me and Daisy often say to each other that this group is just as much yours as it is ours. If we didn't care about you guys we wouldn't have created this group. We already discussed My Sister the Vampire but we wanted to take it to the next level, we wanted to include more people from all around the world and after a year I think we have acheived that goal. 40+ people cared enough to click that 'join group' button. People are picking up Sienna Mercer's books all the time and falling in love with them. This means as long as people are reading these books, people will be discussing them and sharing the joy. This is the place to do just that. This group is what it is because of you. Thank you all...so much.
And save a slice of the cake for me. Just because I like cake.

Can't believe this group is already a year old. Thank you to all of our members - you guys are epic! And thanks Soph for coming up with the idea for this group in the first place - it's so much fun to be a part of. Love your 'speech', thanks for all the nice things you said about me. :) Here's to another awesome year of MSTMB!

I've edited my (ginormous) introductory comment just to update it and get rid of all the embarrassing stuff my younger self said, lol. Hopefully it's all a little clearer now. Thanks for three awesome years!

Three years of My Sibling The Mythical Being is crazy! This group brings me so much joy and I'm very grateful to everyone that keeps on making it a thing. :DD Aww.

The Group
My Sibling the Mythical Being is a place to discuss Sienna Mercer's My Sister the Vampire and My Brother the Werewolf series with other fans. Here's some links if you have no idea what I'm talking about:
Sienna Mercer
My Sister the Vampire (or MSTV, as we like to refer to it)
My Brother the Werewolf (also known as MBTW)
We try our up-most to be a very friendly and active group. We were formed in January 2014, and are constantly trying to improve the group in any way we can, and if you have any suggestions, give us a shout in the Ideas for this book club... thread.
The Group Rules are displayed every time you post a comment, but I am going to list them below anyway!
1. No swearing or bullying.
2. Only post spoilers in the forums that allow them.
3. Respect other people's opinion.
4. No spoilers in discussion titles - even in a spoiler-allowed folder.
5. Have fun!
The Mods
The moderators (and creators!) of My Sibling the Mythical Being are myself and Sophie. We tell you about ourselves in the Introduce Yourself! thread, but here's links to our profiles if you'd like to learn more about us:
Sophie - The Joker
Daisy - The Brains
If you're wondering about the nicknames, I'm The Brains because I have read Mercer's books SO many times and I know a lot of useless trivia (seriously, it's kinda sad), and Sophie's The Joker because she's is known for joking around within the group and basically just cheering us all up (not because she is a batman villain, lol!).
Don't be afraid to message either of us or send us a friend request if you feel like it, and both of us will always be happy to answer any questions you have about the group. :)
Being a Member
Anybody is welcome to join this group, even if you haven't read any of Sienna Mercer's books. The more the merrier! There is no pressure to be an active member in this group - joining doesn't mean you have to do anything at all. We do not block members if they don't comment or anything like that. Obviously, we love it when you guys join in the conversation, take part in a game or vote on a poll, but if you don't want to do any of that, you don't have to!
Discussions
Members are free to comment in discussions to their heart's content. The sky's the limit!
If you're not sure where to start, a good idea is to mark all the threads as 'read' then see which ones are most active at the moment without being bombarded with hundreds of unread discussions!
We try to be very careful about spoilers in My Sibling the Mythical Being. We have spoiler and NON-spoiler folders for both the MSTV and MBTW series. In the spoiler folders, in character discussions we allow spoilers for any book that character has appeared in, and book discussions permit spoilers for that book and any preceding that in the series. Hope that makes sense! If you're confused just ask in the specific thread what's OK and what's not, or use a spoiler tag (view spoiler)[like this (hide spoiler)] which is easy to do by typing < spoiler > Olivia eats a cabbage in book 5 :O < / spoiler > except without the spaces. This sounds quite strict but seriously don't worry, we will not come after you with pitchforks and torches if you spoil in the wrong place!
The NON-spoiler discussions are a safer place to discuss the books when it comes to not be spoilt about books you have not read. We use these mainly for discussing and predicting new books before they come out.
Members are welcome to create discussions in the group, even if you are not a moderator. However, Sophie and I are a little obsessive about the look of the group, so if you are creating a discussion, please bare the following things in mind...
1. Make sure there isn't already a discussion set up about what you are planning to make a discussion about - we don't want tons of topics about the same thing!
2. Please try to use correct grammar in the discussion titles. You can speak how you like in general comments, but try your hardest to keep the titles looking nice!
3. Make sure you put the discussion in the right folder, for instance if your discussion is likely to contain spoilers, it would not belong in one of our NON-spoiler folders. If you're unsure of which folder to put your discussion in, don't select any and it will be put into the general folder. We will then be able to sort out a place for it or it can stay there if that's where it fits.
Polls
Members are allowed to vote on as many of the group polls as you like, and creating polls is also welcomed, but remember to keep in mind rules 1 and 2 about making discussions. (above)
When we make new polls, we usually invite all the members to vote on it, but if you don't want receive these invites, I'm pretty sure you can change what emails you get on your profile settings, but you'll have to ask Sophie about that. She's better with technology than I am!
Some polls allow write-in answers, where you can add an answer to the poll if you don't want to vote for any of the answers given. Where this is allowed, you are at total liberty to do a write-in answer, but obviously don't create an answer that is already there - what would be the point in that!
Books
We love reading books as a group so check out the group bookshelf or look on the homepage to see if we have anything coming up right now. If you have any suggestions for things you'd like to read together you can comment on the Ideas for this book club... thread.
I think that's everything! Hope this wasn't too overwhelming for anyone. Thanks very much and enjoy the group! ;)
