Waubgeshig Rice never explicitly reveals the nature of the apocalypse in Moon of the Crusted Snow. How does this affect your experience of the novel? What do you imagine the apocalypse to be?

I think that keeping the specifics concealed was a good choice. The reader doesn't know anything more than the residents of the community depicted in the novel, which serves to enhance the feeling of isolation that Rice has cultivated so well.
