How is your reading going so far this July?

I am reading The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise, a middle grade by Dan Gemeinhart and The ABC Murders by Agatha Christie.

I read Crazy Rich Asians during my trip at the beginning of the month and want to get the next two from the library and knock out that trilogy this month. It was a fun read.

☘ Erin K ☘ I'm currently reading Bellewether by Susanna Kearsley Bellewether by Susanna Kearsley and listening to the audiobook for West with the Night by Beryl Markham West with the Night by Beryl Markham. I became curious about West With the Night after I read and enjoyed Circling the Sun by Paula McLain Circling the Sun by Paula McLain (which is about Beryl Markham) so much several months ago.

Both good so far.

When you click on "add book/author" above the comment section, when you select your book from the list shown, you can either select ADD like you do to enter the book link and then you type in COVER between book and the colon OR at the bottom under all of the listed books, there are radio buttons and link it automatically selected but you can select cover instead. I usually just click on the ADD twice and type in cover in the first link added.

Hope this makes sense! (edited hyphen to colon)

Wow - I think 4 at a time is the limit my brain can handle and usually it's just 1 book and 1 audiobook for me.

I loved What Alice Forgot and Rules of Civility.

message 11: by Terri (last edited Jul 11, 2019 07:52PM) (new)

Terri (tee_reads) | 57 comments Finished Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid on Tuesday.

Started Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens last night.

message 12: by Jill (new)

Jill (penwiper42) | 20 comments Haha. When someone mentioned bellewether I got all excited and then I went, no wait it’s spelled differently from Connie Willis’s book.... ^.

I am reading the complete poems of Christina Rossetti at the moment to fill a challenge prompt for “a thick paperback”, but I also am reading the Fruits Basket manga and Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen. I will soon be reading Storm of Locusts by Rebecca Roanhorse, Celine by Peter Heller, The Golden Specific by SE grove, The Search for Delicious by Babbitt and a few others. Except for the first two they’re all library books. 😅

Oh, and my bathroom book is The Boat that Wouldn’t Float by Farley Mowat. I am itching to pick it up and just finish it because that is one disastrous venture... and I want to see the culmination of the entire mess!

message 13: by Candi (new)

Candi (candilovesbooks) I am currently reading The Alice Network, The Siren, Diary of a Wimpy Kid #1. And listening to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, and Outlander #1 haha I think I might DNF this one. I am on ch. 22. And so far, I find it boring? There's no action, adventure going on. Ugh. Maybe, I'll finish it and see if it picks up. If not, I am scratching that series of my list.

Theresa | 57 comments I am also reading way to many right now but I just started Wildfire at Midnight by Mary Stewart and am about to finish The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary. I am also about halfway through The House At Riverton by Kate Morton. The other six I haven't read in a while.

I liked The Alice Network. I'm about to start book #8 in the Outlander series and I have to say this series has been up and down for me. My friend is pushing me to finish so I'm going to give it a shot.

message 20: by Debbi (new)

Debbi Faust Leaota's Garden by Francine Rivers. I have had this book on my shelf for years but never read it. I am so glad I finally picked it up. I think it will end up being a 5 star read for me.

message 21: by Candi (new)

Candi (candilovesbooks) I didn't know there are 8 books. Sheesh. To think there's a hit TV series on cable. Lol, I know it can be better, but, right now am not curious. I am enjoying The Alice Network.

message 25: by Foxed (new)

Foxed Folios (foxedfolios) Fiction (paperback): Love in a Fallen City by Eileen Chang
I struggle with short stories, but I LOVE the novella format and these are almost long enough to be considered (very) short novellas so giving it a go.

Non-fiction. Animals. SOLD.

message 26: by Elsa (new)

message 27: by Susan (new)

Susan | 8 comments Pretty much all of July will be taken up with reading Gone With The WInd! I am absolutely loving it and can't believe that I've never read it before! There is SO MUCH MORE to this book than the movie (which I loved) shows - but isn't that nearly always the case?

On audio, I've just started listening to Francine Rivers' The Masterpiece and am really enjoying it also.

message 28: by Candi (new)

Candi (candilovesbooks) I love that movie it's one of my favorites. I started listening to the book but I need to continue it.

message 29: by Mel (new)

Mel Currently reading The Huntress by Kate Quinn, but I want to be reading The Stranger Beside Me

message 30: by Allie (new)

Allie Hope | 5 comments Today, I am reading House of Shadows by Nicola Cornick. It changes daily because I go through about a book a day. I’m also reading Go Bravely by Emily Wilson Hussem, but that one I’m moving through at a slower pace. I am also reading The Giraffe, The Pelly, and me by Ronald Dahl aloud to my son and I’m currently listening to The Rose Garden on audio during my commute because Susanna Kearsley is my favorite. 🙂

I am with you on Susanna Kearsley. What is your favorite of hers? I think mine is Shadowy Horses but I still have to catch up on her books.

So many good books! My currently reading has changed a few times this month. Last night I started a thriller - The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena . I had read a few lighter books, so thought this would be a good switch up!

I love Susanna Kearsley too. I just finished Bellewether by Susanna Kearsley Bellewether and I think it's one of her better ones. My favorites are probably The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley The Rose Garden and The Winter Sea (Slains, #1) by Susanna Kearsley The Winter Sea. Though come to think of it, A Desperate Fortune by Susanna Kearsley A Desperate Fortune would get an honorable mention too.

Another favorite author is Susan Meissner. I'm reading A Bridge Across the Ocean by Susan Meissner A Bridge Across the Ocean right now and enjoying it.

message 36: by Candi (new)

Candi (candilovesbooks) I did not check to see if the series is on the same characters. Or if every book is different. I will finish book 1 and read 2 then see what happens.

I have only read one by Susan Meissner but I think she will be a favorite too. I think you need to read at least two from an author to call them a favorite:)
Some of the Kearsley you read are ones I haven't. Rose garden wasn't on my top three of hers but I still gave it a 4 star. I am not much into time travel. I am not normal I know.

message 38: by Shala (new)

Shala I'm reading The Paris Secret by Lily Graham .

message 39: by Kim (new)

Kim Kantor (kimkantor) | 92 comments Today I’m reading All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda. Love a good, not gory suspense/thriller! Quarter in and really enjoying the way she has written the book...the story is told backwards, for the most part. I was worried I wouldn’t “get “ it, but not at all. So far highly recommended!

message 40: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Magario Just finished The Humans, now working on The Princess Bride and All Your Perfects!

message 41: by Allie (new)

I am thinking of rereading Shadowy Horses soon but first I am going to read Season of Storms because I keep saying I will read it and it gets pushed back for something else. It is one I have not read yet. Have you? Is it good?

Shala Last night I finished The Paris Secret by Lily Graham and will be starting An Inquiry Into Love and Death by Simone St. James today.

message 44: by Cassie (new)

Cassie | 37 comments An American Duchess - almost finished. It's sweet and good. A light read with a bit of a mystery and a bit of romance.

Longitude (and a really long subtitle I don't remember). Very interesting and a surprisingly quick read

The Freedom Writer's Diary. Good but heart breaking at times.
