rivka When I view a book, my review (if any) shows up first. When you view it, yours does, and mine may or may not be on the first page -- let alone near the top. So finding my review, if I've just linked to the book's page, can be difficult for others.

To link directly to your review, click on "add a comment." That will take you to a page that just has your review (and any comments on it). Link to that page, rather than the book page. That way people can vote for it! :)

Gary | 7 comments i'm still in the dark; i posted my "review" of the great gatsby here, in this conference: but apparently i didn't do some additional step.

if so could you please say it again, another way, so it can penetrate my concrete skull? thanks.

rivka Gary, it looks like all your links are search links. I'm guessing that means you used the format [ book: title ] and/or [ author: name ] for all of them? Or maybe you used the standard HTML formatting but linked to the search results pages? Either way, it won't get readers to your review to vote. You want this link:

Gary's review

(extra spaces have been added so you can see the coding; make sure you use the full link, not just the part that's visible in my post)

How to add a link to your post:

If submitting your own review:
1) Click on the book title.
2) Your review will appear just below the general info box for the book. Click where it says "X comments." If you just added your review, this will say "0 comments."
3) Copy the URL for that page, which is a page exclusively for your review and any associated comments. You should see your name near the top (for example, "Jessica's review"), and you should also see "review/show/" as part of the URL. If you do not see "review/show/" you are on the wrong page.
4) Paste the URL at the top of your contest group post. This will make it easy for people to click the link and vote for your brilliant review!

If you are nominating someone else's review:
1) A few options:
a. If you are browsing the reviews for a certain book and find a review you like, click "X comments" next to "Like this review?" It may also say "add a comment," if the review does not yet have any comments. Proceed to step 2.
b. If you know a friend wrote a cool review, navigate to your friend's profile page. Click "see all bookshelves" then select "main" from the list of view options. Search for the book title, and when you find it, click the "view" link next to the title on the far right. Proceed to step 2.
3) Copy the URL for that page, which is a page exclusively for that review and any associated comments. You should see the reviewer's name near the top (for example, "Jessica's review"), and you should also see "review/show/" as part of the URL. If you do not see "review/show/" you are on the wrong page.
4) Paste the URL at the top of your contest group post. This will make it easy for people to click the link and vote!

These instructions are also included in each category. If you want to get fancy, you can embed the link using HTML, but this is not necessary.
