Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I think we should do a challenge for October where we read a classic spooky story. No modern stuff. So first we should come up with a list

Dracula
Frankenstein
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Carmilla
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Collected Ghost Stories
The Vampyre: A Tale
The Willows
The Masque of the Red Death
The Hound of the Baskervilles
The Raven

Any more nominees?

Anybody up for this challenge?

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I have only read the raven by him. I think in this challenge might read Carmilla. The ultimate female vampire.

Tinka | 495 comments Already read a few of them but hey I'm in. How about The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury ? Bradbury is fantastic when it comes to creating an unsettling, eerie atmosphere. I've read Something Wicked This Way Comes (Green Town, #2) by Ray Bradbury this year and while not exactly horror it definitely was spooky

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I was thinking of the old classics for this challenge, I reckon Bradbury is a modern classic? For this challenge I think the minimum age has to be 100years old.

Tinka | 495 comments Well I'm a rule breaker lol

message 6: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Haha I shall have to destroy all books under 100years old.

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Don't think this one should be a poll as might not be of interest to all, maybe just to pick one from the list?

Will add the Raven.

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I am going to read Carmilla for this challenge.

Tinka is going to re-read eat pray love (the extended version) that would be a nightmare to her. hehe

Tinka | 495 comments You caught me...I'm gonns re-read this one and then the entire Twilight Saga and you can visit me in a mental asylum.

Think I'm gonna reading Jekyll and Hyde...it's on my list since forever

message 10: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Oooooh! A haunted asylum? hehe

message 11: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Probably. It will also have an evil scientist and obviously a possessed television and everyday for dinner they will pea soup served by a guy that looks like a talking pizza

Guess who watches too many horror movies? lol

message 12: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Nice one. What version do you have? I had one with illustrations in it, they were really smart.

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Haha when I read the Raven the Simpsons was going round in my head.

Edgar Allan Poe makes an appearance in Witches of East end.

message 15: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments I don't think I'll get to read my book. Those five books for class totally came in-between

message 16: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments You have read the raven this month so you could count that as yer book.

message 17: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments No I haven't. I read it ages ago but forgot to add it

message 18: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Yay. You all dressing up today then?

message 19: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Happy Halloween, guys!

No sadly not this year. The only horror I have this year is that I have to watch some kids lol

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Yes in has been Americanised now, I refuse to decorate the house though. I didn't dress up either. Instead I went to the cinema to see Alien and Aliens. Was awesome on the big screen.
