All About Books discussion

Hi everyone, apologies for the lateness as this should have been taking place in July but June was a busy month for me.

Please post your name here if you would like to sign up for next month's (September) recommendation swap. If you have never tried this, it's a really good way to try new books and genres!

Sign ups will be open until the 1st September and I will post the list of partners the following day. Recommendations should then be sent out within the next couple of days. The swap runs for 2 months so there is plenty of time to find and read your book.

Please comment with your name here if you would like to join in. Remember that we ask people to have 30 or more comments in the group in order to participate.

Please remember to "report back" in the "What did you think?" thread, so we can all see what you read and if you liked it.

Any questions, just comment in this thread.

How can we find out how many comments we have?

I normally do it on my computer and hover over your name to check. But if you want to check, I find it's best to post a comment, refresh the page and hover over your name. If you can't check that way, you can go here: https://www.goodreads.com/group/11044... and search your name. But you have 143 comments so far.

I don't do the recommendations even though I like the idea. But especially this year which is my Rebellious Reading year where, for the most part, I only read what I feel like reading (minimal exceptions).

Sounds great! I had some great suggestions last time. It gave me a push to read a book I’ve had on my shelf for years!

I missed out on the August Readathon,is this still a go?

Has the book swap been decided yet?

That's my fault, I thought giving it longer for people to sign up would help get people's comments up and get more active in the group. The deadline is the 1st September and I will pick your partners then. I will send you all a message when your partner is picked.

Sorry, Alannah, but I won't be able to participate this time around. Please take my name off the list of participants. Something unexpected has come up and I'll be tied up for a couple of weeks in September.

It’s too bad you excluded newer people or those that are still learning how to get around in the group for discussions etc. not everyone has a loot to say even if they are reading along and following a group read. I’ve not been a member for long and I was excited about this prospect with the recommendation swap. Also I am not sure how, but I missed your initial post. Maybe next time. Disappointed but looking at the bright side , I’m now + 1 Comment.

What is recommendations swap?

It is not our intention to exclude anybody, we have just had too many incidents where new or inactive members were joining in then disappearing on their partners.

I'm not sure how this work. But I'll give it a try : D
