A common problem after joining Goodreads is you need to verify your email address before you can access all of the website's features esp. Group features. Try this:

1. Go into your email program (Gmail/Outlook/etc.), and look for an email from Goodreads.com in your Inbox -- or possibly your Spam folder.
2. Follow the instructions in the email and click on the Goodreads link. This will tell Goodreads that you used a valid email account when signing up.
3. Then come back to our group, and you should be able to post a message to create a book request. Here's the link:

Not sure of which email address you used when signing up? Try this:

1. Using the full desktop website (not the mobile app or mobile version), click your tiny profile image/link in the upper-right corner.
2. Select "Account Settings", then the "Emails" tab at the top. Look for "Not Receiving Emails? Alert emails will be sent to your-email-address" in the right-hand column.

Cristina Hiatt | 9 comments I can't find any other way to ask fit this specific problem. I've been trying to pay a book to look for like 73x. Or ahead days context can't be blank. I have filled in every single thing on that form and previewed it in case I had to do that. What the heck am I doing wrong?!

Mehgan (mehgss) | 4 comments Hi, not sure if it's this thread or the spam one I need to post to but.... I joined and tried to make a post but the page kept telling me something went wrong and to reload it. Today on the thread I apparently made a few repeat posts though and I'm not sure how it happened or how to delete them.

Yes; it's a pretty common glitch that you'll get the error message, and end up with multiple identical posts.

The moderators will delete the duplicates in time. You can draw their attention to them in the * Members - You can help others! topic under "Group suggestions/feedback."

Cynthia | 1 comments It says "start typing the name of the book" but I don't remember it which is why I'm requesting for help. What do I do?

message 6: by SamSpayedPI (new)

SamSpayedPI | 2300 comments You don't need to fill in the "This topic is about" section; you can (or ought to be able to) leave it blank (sometimes there's a glitch).

Cynthia, are you referring to the "This topic is about" text box when you create a new request? Just leave the box blank. When a request is solved, we type the book title/author into that box.

ClaraBelle (elsiecorriedale) Are you referring to adding a book cover when you share your currently reading or recommend list?

Emma (cactipoke) | 1 comments do i need to post a comment here before asking about a book? i cant figure out what goodreads wants me to do, or maybe it’s a glitch

Emma, are you seeing an error message? For example, new members must verify their email address (by responding to the email sent by Goodreads) -- before they can post a comment or create a book request thread.

Rabia Sajidd Raja (rabail) | 3 comments Can’t post about my book because they are asking for one character for TITLE and I don’t know it? What should I do now?

That's a strange glitch that sometimes appear. Just enter any related book title, then a moderator will clear the Title box/field. (We actually use that box to enter the Solved book title.)

Rutu | 41 comments I am a old user, i joined the discussion today but i am unable to post a request...it keeps saying error but i dont understand what error...i edited the title 6-7 times...it says "cant post due to 1 error.."
What do i do?

message 14: by SamSpayedPI (new)

SamSpayedPI | 2300 comments Did you try posting with a really short title/header? Sometime you get the error message when the title is too long. You can always go back and edit the header later.

Same problem. Can't post! I have tried a really short title!

Please note: short topic titles/ header are not helpful in this large group. The description must include the genre and plot details.

message 19: by Claire (new)

Claire I'm having the same issue as all of these people. My email address is verified and I filled out the discussion box with all of the details that were laid out by the moderators. I also have a full, descriptive title box that does not exceed the character limit. I looked to see if my posts were actually posting and not notifying me, but I have no posts in this group.

Claire, if you're using the Goodreads App, it can be very difficult to find your old requests and comments.

You can find your posts in this group by clicking "My Group Topics" on our Group Homepage in the right-hand column (above the "Search discussion posts" box). This only works on the full Desktop website and Mobile website (not the App). Here’s a quick link for you - https://www.goodreads.com/group/185-w...
