Round 1 Tracking

🌋 Safezone Tasks - Books cannot be started until Countdown tasks complete.
Can complete any one or combination;
Group 1 - 30pts per letter =>120pts

What does everyone want in the countdown.

I can take #3 I’ve got which is #4 in The Wolves of Mercy Falls, originally published as a trilogy

I can easily do 9, 7, 6, 2. Any combo of those, as needed.

I can definitely do any combination of these: 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 2

Can anyone think of a book where the audio has at least 4 narrators? All I can think of are the 2nd & 3rd books in the Illuminae Files.

And the third Ember in the Ashes book.

I can for sure do any but 4 or 1.


I could probably dig around and find something for 1 if no one else has one.

I can do #1 if no one else can.

I’ve added part 2 to the tracking. We are signed up for Crater level max 40books in a two week period.

For part 2 we need to decide if we’re going to work on all 3 groups or just 1 or 2 groups.

Well, writing teams using a single pename is out for #2. I'll see what I can find. I think I have some stuff by Elle Kennedy or Penni Reid that they teamed up on with other authors.

LaurLa, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child write a mystery/thriller series together, the Pendergast series. Also, if you like YA, Holly Black and Cassandra Clare write the Magisterium series.

LaurLa, there’s tons of RH books with 2 authors. I’ve got a bunch sitting on my Kindle right now, if you want to switch with me.

Thanks! I've got books just wanted to be able to use my Ilona Andrews books for challenge double dipping :-(

Also, LaurLa, I'm willing to do #2 along with my others if you don't find anything you want to read.

This starts on Monday. We need to decide what safezone tasks we’re going for, bearing in mind these can’t be started until the Countdown tasks are done.

I don't usually like NBRC BOMs, so I wouldn't mind skipping group 1 this round and focusing on group 2 and 3.

I don't like the BOMs either so skipping Group 1 would be fine with me.

I'm not opposed to reading The Sun is Also a Star. I enjoyed Everything, Everything, and it was a super fast read. But, I can't get it from my libraries for 2-3 weeks, so I agree with skipping Group 1.

Can't start before Monday, right? I currently have these two out in my KU, so I'll be reading them for my 2 books: Elements of Ruin, and Elements of Desire. Both work for both of my tasks.

LaurLa, they also happen to have 2 authors, so if you need to switch, or have me take that task, I can cover it. I wasn't sure if you had found one after Ilona Andrews was rejected. :)

Yikes! We can't even start the Safezone books until all Countdown tasks are done!

For future rounds, if the rules stay the same (i.e., for Group 1 you have to read 2 BOMs), I can pause my re-read of Kate Daniels until we get to the next round, since Magic Triumphs is on the list.

Okay, I found one. I can take iii - Read a book with something hot on the cover (open to interpretation) and that contains the word LAVA in the text. I'm going through Kate Daniels on audio, so the timing should be perfect to read , which has LAVA in the text and fire (hot) on the cover.

Louise, are you okay for the Red cover task? I know red covers are my nemesis!

I’ve added a tracking sheet to the spreadsheet for Group 3 words showing the value of each word and the number of books needed per word.

Our reading level gives us 21 - 40 books/ round leaving us with 7 - 26 books for Group 3

If we do decide to do Group 1, I can do Magic Triumphs for one of the As, and Storm Glass for the L (I don't think Valek is in that one, so bummer on the V).

Actually, A Court of Thorns and Roses is on the list, and works for an V. I'm willing to do any combination of these three, if we want to go for Group 1.

But Group 2 is still first, right? Because my Group 2 book is earlier in the series than the Group 1 book.

Louise, in the FAQ post of the question thread, I read this:

◈Q: for the safezone tasks do we have to complete group 1 THEN group 2 THEN group 3 or could we do group 2 first and then group 1 for example, as long as we finished 2 before we started on 1
◈A: Your example is correct. They can't be finished concurrently, but you can finish group 2, then group 1, then group 3.

If two other people are willing to read former BOMs, then I'm okay with doing group 1.

I did find a couple on the list I'd be fine reading but would rather wait until later rounds if we've already got 2 willing to go for this round.
