Ungar5 i just finished words of radiance (which changed my definition of amazing), and i couldnt help but make a connection between the sword that Szeth got from Nin (the herald) and Nightblood, Vashers sword from Warbreaker. i know im probably going way overboard, and maybe i just need someone to tell me that i am, but:
-the swords are both black
-they both have mist coming out of them
-they both have scabbards, which wouldnt be weird, except that no sword on Roshar has a scabbard (other than regular ones)
-and not only do both of them talk - what Szeth's sword said (something about "lets go killing") is something i would expect Nightblood to say.
so what do you guys think?

Dhanusha | 109 comments Yep it's Nightblood alright. And guess who Vasher is?

really?? the herald is Vasher? is that hinted at in the book? if so, i COMPLETELY missed that.

Ron (RonJohn) Wow....I've totally missed that. I need to read all these "Shard" books in one go.

And Dhanusha, is that hinted at anywhere, again I can see the connection so could very well be!

Godslayer I believe Vasher is the master swordsman who teaches Renarin and Kaladin for he mentions how the world is different and about Breath magics.

Also, 'Would you like to destroy some evil today?' is the epitome of Nightblood.

Check out coppermind.com for all of the Cosmere theories and revelations!

Lindsey | 124 comments Yes, it's been confirmed that Szeth's new sword is Nightblood and Zahel the swordmaster is Vasher. So actually, Ungar5, not that far overboard. ;-)

Ron (RonJohn) Just read on copper mind. Really love the detail in Sandersons books!

message 8: by Dhanusha (new)

Dhanusha | 109 comments Oops. Didn't realise my statement would cause so much excitement. It's Zahel that's Vasher yes. And apparently it's been confirmed by Sanderson that Vasher and Nightblood were originally meant for the Stormlight series, and Warbreaker was just kind of like an introduction prequel thingy for them.

message 9: by Joey (new)

Joey (mostlyjoe) Sanderson said Vasher is in the Stomrlight world to aquire something easier. I think Stormlight is a good enough stand in for Breath that he doesn't have to take anyone's to extend his life. And Nightblood is close enough to a Shardblade he can explain it's weirdness.
