LynnB | 1769 comments Oh, wow! October already? This looks like a good list, though. Love the letter change -- fun! Off to searching....

yep, 2014 is sprinting to an end already!

Amy | 2241 comments I have been doing the LOST challenge for a couple of years so I no longer have books on my TBR from the first year I joined GR. Do I use the next oldest books on my TBR or go to the alternative: c. Books purchased / received more than 5 years ago?

That's what I like to hear, Amy! :)

Please use the alternate option.

Thanks...that's what I figured. My husband brought Waiting for Godot with him when we got married 29 years ago. I have yet to read it, so now is the time.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1223 comments I noticed that all of the animals-and-children books are shelved -1 times. Is that ok?

I don't know if Tien will say it's okay, but I noticed that too and just figured if it is on the shelf, it is one we can choose. Just like when we wonder why a particular book got shelved on other shelves where it doesn't seem to fit correctly. Ruling, Tien?

Coralie | 1658 comments How can a book be on 37 different shelves with 'fiction' as part of the shelf name without being on the 'fiction' shelf? And how many combinations and permutations can there be of mystery and crime without actually saying 'mystery and crime'?

And how do people choose their books so quickly when it takes me days and days of hard work to match up all the shelves and categories?

LOL! I am still working on my list also, Coralie.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1223 comments Lol Coralie. The mystery and crime combinations were particularly frustrating this time round.

I actually found it a bit easier this time with the choice of multiple letters rather than only one :0)

I noticed that too, Lauren, after I posted & all so it's okay for this one.

Thing is, with the way the shelf work, -1 just means someone's deleted this shelf from their list of shelves. What's weird was that this shelf made it to the first 12 pages of Top Shelves! But as I've already sorted out all the 'random shelves' for the challenge a while ago, I don't really want to change it now. Besides which, it's an easy shelf to pick a read from.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1223 comments Thanks Tien. Yes, it is an easy shelf.

Karen (karenofthebookworm) Brilliant timing. Decided to have a quick look at October's challenge before I started the book that I had picked up from the library during my lunch break, it is on the first shelf and it fits three categories.
