Kamiko (kamiko1108) | 1125 comments I sigh and pace around my enormous room. Finally, after becoming too tired to pace, I flop down on my four poster bed and switch on the TV. Why would my parents feel the need to hire a new bodyguard? Couldn’t they just use someone from the Royal Guard? Why go to all this--. Then it dawned on me. They’re sending me away! Sending me away. Only more questions and more fury arise. Why me, and not my elder sister? Where? Probably to some bordering country, maybe Mistrel or Fairamont. I’m so furious I’m about to go and storm into my father’s study.

A knock at the door stops me, though. It’s a timid knock, so it’s probably a maid. Yes, there are kinds of knocks. There are the ones that demand attention, the musical ones,, and the timid ones that say sorry for bothering you. “Come in,” I say. The door opens and Cecile walks in. I forget about my worries and break into a wide smile. Cecile and I have friends since as long as we can remember. She mockingly curtsies(when your best friends with a princess it gets annoying) I tell her to sit and she does. I must see if Cecile knows and can confirm that I’m leaving.

“Cecile,” I hesitate. How will she react to this news? “Do you know if I’m going to be sent away to another country?,” To my surprise, she grins. “We were all making bets on when you would figure it out. Only the newer ones who don’t know you bet that you wouldn’t figure it out until the King or Queen told you.” “You mean you knew?,” She laughs. “Of course we did! We hear everything, and of course, we had to make the preparations.” “Oh, of course. So, do you know where I’m going? Or when? And why?” The questions come tumbling out of my mouth just as soon as they formed in my mind. Cecile opened her mouth to answer, but I wasn’t done yet. “And who’s going with me? Are we going in hiding? If my sister’s the heir, then why am I the one going?,” all of the questions tumbling out of my mouth with no volition. I slow down, catching my breath. Cecile grins. “Slow down, Aline (A/N: Her nickname from Cecile) We’re going to Aidenfield Academy in Sylvaria.” Before she finishes, I interrupt. “We?” She beams. “That is, me, you, and your hot bodyguard.”

I tried to ignore the “hot bodyguard” comment, even though it was true. Aidenfield is one of the most prestigious countries in the world. Very, very few people get in. And even then, most of them are royals, dukes, earls, and people with titles and money. I’ve always wanted to go to Sylvaria. It’s a beautiful country with rolling green hills and waterfalls.

Suddenly, a thought occured. “Wait, what about my fighting lessons?” She raises an eyebrow. Is it the lessons you’re going to miss...or something else?” I throw a pillow at her. “Don’t try to match me to the first handsome guy you see. Just answer the question.” “So you admit that he’s hot?” I blush. “Y-yes, but I do not like him! He’s the enemy after all.” She sighs dreamily. “Ah, forbidden love. It’s the most romantic, and the saddest.” I put my hand to my stomach. “I feel sick. Just answer the question.” She rolls her eyes. “Fine. They decided that the lessons will take place at the school, but anyone is welcomed to join, and you’ll have multiple teachers.” I calm down a little, only to have my anxiety spike again. “But why? Why are they sending me away?” She shrugs. “I don’t know. Maybe because you need more lessons? I’m so excited!” I frown.

Cecile didn’t understand. Aidenfield was like court. Games of lying, cheating, and backstabbing went on there, only on a teenage level. And that might even be worse. There were many spies, and I doubted I would ever fit on. Even though I was a princess, I wasn’t very good at being one. I couldn’t play those games. I sighed. “What’s wrong?,” Cecile asked, concerned. She could always tell when I was upset. I put on my best smile. “Nothing. Everything’s great,” I said, even though I didn’t particularly believe it.
