We had a tie this month so we will be reading two nominees: Vox and Red Clocks.

Vox by Christina Dalcher

Vox by Christina Dalcher

Set in an America where half the population has been silenced, VOX is the harrowing, unforgettable story of what one woman will do to protect herself and her daughter.

On the day the government decrees that women are no longer allowed to speak more than 100 words daily, Dr. Jean McClellan is in denial—this can't happen here. Not in America. Not to her.

This is just the beginning.

Soon women can no longer hold jobs. Girls are no longer taught to read or write. Females no longer have a voice. Before, the average person spoke sixteen thousand words a day, but now women only have one hundred to make themselves heard.

But this is not the end.

For herself, her daughter, and every woman silenced, Jean will reclaim her voice.

Vicki Willis | 1033 comments This is not a genre that I have any go to authors. I usually read it through word of mouth. I was interested in this one because it seemed so divisive.
I really got into this book. I read it in just a few days and I was totally hooked. I can see how some people would be triggered by it, but for me it was very entertaining.
I especially liked the relationship between the MC and her son. I have sons and I was really thinking about how I would feel in her place.
I will be so curious to see other people's opinions on this one.

my review

Savanes | 2107 comments True, I know a lot of people who hated this book and others who loooooved it. Now that I read your review, I might get tempted.

Michelle (mich2689) | 164 comments I just finished this book and I have mixed feelings about it. The plot was exciting and I found the book hard to put down. However, I felt like the author got lazy during the last quarter of the book and used a lot of plot conveniences to create a resolution. I went from a 4 star rating to a 2 star near the end.

Ari | 1 comments So far I really love this book. I'm 12% in, and if it pans out well it might get an elusive 5 star rating from me. but if Michelle's review is anything to go on it probably won't lol.

Michelle (mich2689) | 164 comments Lol I hope it works out better for you, Nova.

I hate when that happens!
