Simon Pearce was born in the south of England and spent most of his formative years growing up on the Isle of Wight. He then went on to read English and German at the University of Wales, Swansea, and then wrote his Ph.D. in German history and literature at the University of Nottingham. Finally, he completed a PGCE and spent many years living in Chesterfield, working at schools in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire. He now lives near Berlin.

Mo hovers tantalisingly between fantasy and reality, between horror and wonder. It describes how a young boy attempts to find his way as family, friends, and strangers tug at his conscience with their conflicting demands. All the while a mysterious voice attempts to guide him. S Pearce's enigmatic tale skilfully examines notions of identity in an unsettled world. Delving at times into the supernatural and at others into violent extremism, this intriguing and intelligent story can be seen as a modern day morality tale which will keep readers guessing throughout

S. Pearce | 6 comments Hello everyone, and thanks very much for the chance to showcase my work. I am very happy to send anyone a copy of the book as a PDF, and would be delighted if you could leave a review, too.
If you have any questions, I'm here all month to answer them!

S. Pearce | 6 comments Hi Beatrice,
what finally inspired me to write was the realisation that I needed to just get on with it! I had always imagined being a writer, but very naively imagined myself sitting in a park jotting down my thoughts while the sun shone through the trees above me. Not only does the sun not shine nearly long enough for this stategy ever to produce anything worthwhile, but I also find myself getting very easily distracted by the slightest of things.
So one day, when I was on my own, I thought, let's do it. It was about 11 in the evening, in the winter. No park. No dappled sunlight. Just a cup of tea.

Catherine Habbie | 1912 comments Congratulations on being featured this month Simon. I have had the pleasure of reading your book and really found the plot intruiging(Review already posted). For some reason the start reminded me of To Kill a Mockingbird
Which is I believe, a remarkable feat in itself. All the best for your month.

I get that sun does not shine for that strategy bit. One has to make hay when the mind shines!
Look forward to reading your work.

Simon can you share more about the next book or is it all hush hush ? 😎

message 12: by S. (new)

S. Pearce | 6 comments It's all a big secret :)
But I'll tell you a couple of things....
So imagine your son is tapping away quietly on his computer. He's simply playing an innocent game. But someone's got their eye on him, and reaches out to him through the platform of the game.
It's a story about grooming, it's a story about friendship, it's a story about trust. I don't want to tell you how it ends - you'll have to read it yourself to find out!

S. Pearce | 6 comments Thanks for the airspace, Grasshopper. I thought it might be nice if for the final five days I put Mo on Amazon for free. So I did. Go and grab yourself a copy if you like, and I'd be happy to hear your thoughts! All of you. Including you. But not you. All right, you too.
Sorry, it's very hot here. I think I'm losing it...
