A Constant Hum by Alice Bishop. Room for a Stranger by Melanie Cheng. Haven't read Islands by Peggy Frew yet, but perhaps that.
An outside chance, because new indie press, but On the Sunday, She Created God - Gerii Pleitez. I hope she submits it!
Exploded View for sure, based on your championing! I should have asked her the other night if she was submitting!
Its been such a great year for Aussie women :)

RE Gerii though, she is both the author of On Sunday and the indie-press founder and solo runner, haha! Imma ask her on Insta!
I just started Exploded View and I'll be shocked if it doesn't make at least the longlist.
What about The Glad Shout? I know you liked that one Emily, do you think it has a shot?

I loved Glad Shout, but I don’t know that it will make the longlist. I guess it depends on if Affirm put it up, and what else it’s up against.
OK I am officially putting Beauty (Bri Lee) on my list. I've just seen the cover art and its phenomenal. I cannot WAIT to get my hands on it!

I've got high hopes for Elizabeth Bryer, Charlotte Wood, Lucy Treloar and Samia Khatun's new ones too.
All great choices Michael! I've just bought See What You Made Me Do, so I am looking forward to getting stuck into that too.
Wiew! Got my hands on Bri Lee's Beauty last weekend, thanks to my lovely local book angel *all the heart eye emojis*
I also nabbed ARCs of Ruby Hammad's new book out next month and Anna Krien's new one out in October. I'd say these are both contenders for Stella

And I attended a couple of Byron Bay Writers Festival sessions with Jess Hill speaking about See What You Made Me Do - impressive! I have it to read now, but surely a worthy Stella nom.
Ok. I’m 100 pages into Stephanie Wood’s Fake and I’m calling longlist. Not shortlist. But definitely longlist.
And I will never date again.
And I will never date again.

Fake is an extraordinary book. Brave as well as fascinating and well researched.

I agree, but I would hate to see the esteem of the prize be diminished or the money to be reduced to accommodate. Surely a decision like this would be funding based, the prize is still fairly new so I can't see it happening for 2020 but maybe one day! A shame because the 2020 longlist will be a fight to get on, so many amazing titles this year.

Gentle reminder that tickets for the 2020 Stella Longlist Party go on sale tomorrow!!

1000% agree. I think this could be the winner honestly.

2020 Long List has been announced and here's a link to the goodreads list I just created
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
Just so I could get in quick for those library reserves :D
Only 3 of my picks made the list. The Yield, The Weekend and There was still love.
The Yield is my favourite out of those 3.
It's a pretty diverse list, looking forward to reading some of these.
I'm thinking... The Yield (Tara June Winch), Troll Hunting (Ginger Gorman) and Claire G Coleman's new book (even though its not out yet I have high expectations!)
