Mike A poignant modern retelling of a classic Russian fable .

Irene | 1936 comments I read this over 4 years ago. I am not a fan of modern fairytales. So, this is not my type of book. I agree that the author captured the atmosphere of rural Alaska, but that was the only element of the story that spoke to me. I could not resolve the tension between the physical and magical aspects of the snow child. Rather than this tension intriguing me, it felt like the author wanted it both ways, a contradiction I could not hold together.
