Cheryl (cherylllr) Finalist from The World Fantasy Awards for Best Short Fiction:

“The Ten Things She Said While Dying: An Annotation”, Adam-Troy Castro (Nightmare 7/19)

http://www.nightmare-magazine.com/fic...

There's a "listen" button on the site. And it's listed as 3406 words long, which is pretty short. Let us know what you think!

Cheryl (cherylllr) (One organizational question - on the website this is tagged as being published in the magazine 12/18 - Silvana or anyone, do you know what the 7/19 tag that I copy-pasted means?)

Cheryl (cherylllr) A brief interview with the author is linked here:

Cheryl (cherylllr) Ok, I don't normally read horror, because it tends to make me laugh or it disgusts me, but doesn't thrill me. So I don't know if this is any good. To me it felt 'meh'... but I'm def. curious if anyone else here likes it.

Joelle.P.S | 150 comments Ditto. I did finish it, but remain unimpressed. Not terrible, not great.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Well, we still have a few other finalists to read. We can hope they're better!

Mareike | 1457 comments Belatedly reading this one and I agree with you all. Definitely on the "meh" end of the scale for me, too.

Mark Lawrence (marklawrence) | 51 comments I've not read the book, which I'm sure is excellent, but the title immediately sets me thinking of ten funny lines or noises. #ImSoPurile

Peggy (psramsey) | 393 comments I thought it interesting that even as she was dying, she had this god-like entity mansplaining her feelings to her....

So true and probably why I found it so irritating.

DivaDiane SM | 3676 comments I forgot all about this buddy read! But based on your opinions, I think I'll skip it. I made a mental note of the title of the next story up, so maybe it will jog my memory when the thread is created!
