Welcome everyone! So our very first book club pick is Harry Potter, i thought it would be a good way to get everyone talking. Many people have read this book and it's an easy one to talk about. So by all means express your own feelings or simply follow a few questions;

-Is this the first time you have read the series or are you rereading the Harry Potter series?
- The Harry Potter series is the most popular children’s book series ever written.
-Why do you think it is so popular?
-Why do you think adults and kids both like it?

J Earl Hi! First, thanks for the invite. I am one of the few who haven't read any in the series, though I have seen the movies several times. I also greatly admire Rowling. I just came in from mowing so need a breather but I will add a few general comments later then see if I can find a copy of the book. As someone who hasn't read the books, I'll probably have more questions than comments, especially if I don't get to the book for a while. Good reading!

HI J Earl! Lovely to meet you, I'm so glad your joining us from a different perspective, I think I've read this book around 8 or 9 times now, maybe even more! It brings me so much happiness, truly a feeling of inner peace. Something I find most appealing and special is the awe that harry feels and the excitement of a child discovering the world. I can't wait to hear your review and what you think of it, enjoy :)

J Earl I just started it this morning and am enjoying the little I've read so far. In some ways the bad part is that I already have pictures in my mind of the characters. That certainly limits the freedom my imagination might have had to picture people and places while reading. Oh well, the negative of reading a book after watching the movie. That said, I am looking forward to reading all of the small things that don't get into film versions. Plus Rowling's writing is wonderful.
