Good morning everyone! I’m posting this a bit early to give everyone time to prepare. This month's theme is everything that has to do with Summer. Get out those summer books: books about Summer, books on the beach, books about swimming, books about vacations, etc. It’s up to you to determine your interpretation of summer. And remember....you do not need to stick to the theme to participate in the readathon. This is about having fun and getting those TBR lists read.

Also, the readathon will run from August 23 to August 26 giving you all a full extra day to sneak in more reading time! The Reading Mermaid and Andrew65 both have posts on Litsy about the readathon as well. I’ll be posting there today too.

So what’s your goal or plan this month? Good luck!

Great goals to both of you! I have a Bill Bryson book I plan to work on.

message 6: by Holly (new)

Holly (goldikova) I'm still working on thinning out the shelf of books I own and haven't read yet. I'm not sure what books they will be, it all depends on what mood I'm in tomorrow when we get started.

I recently decided to work on my owned shelves. I have so many books (like I’m a saving them for a rainy day). A friend and I have decided to work on reading our own books. Of course I still have my pile from the library too.

message 8: by Ace (last edited Aug 23, 2019 10:32AM) (new)

Ace (aceonroam) I will have a mixture of library books and some of my own to get through. I will try to check in for updates as often as I can.

Glenda | 52 comments I need to finish a group read, Snow Crash, then start Cold Comfort Farm to complete a summer reading challenge prompt. Otherwise, I'm not completely sure. Maybe start Boy's Life, Finders Keepers, or catch up on some J.A. Jance.

Glad to have everyone aboard!

Reading slumps are no joke. I have them from time to time. Sometimes I just have to pick up a book and force myself to push through. Other times I just let it run its course.

message 17: by Kristina Simon (new)

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) Oh, I HATE reading slumps. I hope you find something you enjoy and that can pull you out, Mallorie!

message 18: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shananigansreads) | 43 comments I'm in the middle of a slump too. I can still stand audiobooks but I've started 5 regular books and haven't been able to get past 5 chapters of any of them. I hope your slump lifts soon... and mine. :-)

Thanks i hope you can get out of your reading slump too.

message 21: by Jessica-sim (new)

Jessica-sim I'm also joining in to get through the books I've been stuck in for some months now! They are all interesting but I crave a clean slate. For the summer theme... I'll use the heatwave as an excuse to stay indoors and read ;-)

message 22: by Jessica-sim (new)

Jessica-sim Didn't meet all my goals (would've been ridiculous too ;-) but I've made a big dent in my reading back log and am already looking forward for the readathon in September. It's very nice to make reading your priority for once and ignore the tasks that usually win your attention for once without feeling guilty .

We’ll look forward to seeing you next month for sure!

How did everyone do? I couldn’t read at all yesterday. My brain just would not cooperate.

message 26: by Ace (new)

Ace (aceonroam) I have failed miserably on this readathon as life got in the way but I read a few pages and started a new audiobook so some reading was achieved.
