The group voted to read the Science & Technology nominee She Has Her Mother's Laugh: The Powers, Perversions, and Potential of Heredity in September. The winner for this genre was The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs: A New History of a Lost World. Have you read any of the other nominees for this award? Which have you read and what did you think? Which was your favorite?

Do you plan to read any of them in the future? How about setting up a buddy read of one that you are interested in this month? Use this thread to discuss and find a buddy!

Schedule buddy reads here, then set up a separate thread to discuss.

This isn't really a genre of interest for me. Sometimes the topics look interesting, but then the books are too dry and I feel like I'm reading a textbook.

I tried reading The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs, but couldn't get interested in it at all. I put it aside to maybe try another time.

I am interested in reading the group's choice, She Has Her Mother's Laugh. I'm hoping to try it in September, but I haven't had much reading time lately and it is quite a long book at 657 pages.

The only other one that I might be interested in trying at some point is Spying on Whales.

Savanes | 2107 comments I'm interested in When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing. I'm not sure it's a great timing right now ;)

My library has that one too. I added it to my "maybe read" list.

Timing: My library states that the book should be available in approximately 2 weeks. I currently have 4 other books on hold that should be available in 2-3 weeks. So it is not good timing to place a hold.

Deborah | 129 comments It really didn't help me, I gave it two stars, really wasn't anything new.

Which book are you referring to Deborah?

Deborah | 129 comments Sorry, I was talking about When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing, I should have replied to your message #5.
