Have you ever heard of The Giver before the movie came out and the book became popular? It has been a true classic but people did not understand that until like several years later. Here you can talk about where you are at in the book!

I hadn't heard of The Giver until it became famous, and once I finally heard of it I still had no idea what it was really about. I've heard from my friends a few items from the synopsis (no major spoilers, of course) and I'm now really interested in reading it. I also want to see the movie afterwards.

Just wanted to point out that you start to get the answer to why the book is called The Giver when you are only half way throught the book. What is your opinion about that? Do you find it better when the beginning of the story is explained about the history of the time era or do you find it better when the action just begins on the first page?

This might be a lot of people, those who like to know about the building of the character first tend to read fast then when the best stuff comes out, they cannot put the book down. Is this any of you people? If you are currently reading the book, where are you so far?

I like the part when Jonas is with the Giver in the room with all of the books and only they could read them. I would be upset if I could not read the books, I would've not even known about them which is pretty sad. But other than that I like when Jonas gets the memories of the modern day.

Why do you think the old Receiver is called the Giver instead of something else? Would there be a better way to put it or is it perfect? Wonder what your opinion is . . .

I like the name how it is. I've always thought that it was because he is giving the memories to the new receiver.

Here. Lets make predictions of what will happen. Don't we all agree that Jonas is gonna give the memories to almost everyone? I mean, he seems so anxious to tell everybody.

Oops, messed up on that last one! So as I was saying, when he said to call him the Giver, I just got a big smile on my face because the story was beginning!

Has anyone read the whole series? Did you like them all?

Okay yes I have read the whole series. It is amazing and underrated. I read them all about 5 years ago before the movie came out and they were amazing. You should all read them.
