Week 4's discussion

Cath impresses me:
Her motherly love for Ada
Her strength in managing the consequences of her husband's actions. I'm convinced that people would be gossiping.
I think many women would have told him to leave.

Rosemary has resurfaced with her disdain and disrespect for others. I find that I cannot understand her disregard for her family at all.

Big city lights appear more attractive and Rosemary probably saw it as more exciting than her own family. Unfortunately that still happens.

I don't mean in leaving. I mean the emotional distance. First with her brother. Later with the police. I can't explain her

I need to re read some bits just to clarify my thoughts on this.

Cool.

Ada is so proud of her shoes- heels, smart, will last forever and she bought them with her savings.

She made me think of the older patients that I used to see in Limpopo, particularly the women, who would wear their Sunday best to see the doctor. I realized early on that acknowledging the ladies's effort helped build rapport and was often told stories about this hat, that bag, those shoes... Usually symbols of sentimental value and effort.
