Janet Rose | 3 comments Hope it's better than the last book. I was so disappointed and I loved all her books until then.

Why didn't you like the last one?

Claire (proud-mum) | 20 comments The first chapter of A Spark of Light intrigued me & I definitely wanted to read more to see how the story progressed. However, the first chapter tried to fit it too many characters and their backgrounds making it seem very disjointed. Despite this, once I got used to how this book was written, I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the story.

Jodi Picoult is an innovative author who guarantees that if you read her first page you’ll read the last. Once again, this is true of this book as she tackles yet another controversial ethical issue – abortion. The writing style in this book is very different as the story starts at the end of the events then progresses backwards, showing what led up to that moment. I think this method will be very Marmite with readers – they’ll either love it or hate it. Personally I loved it as it something different and gave the book a unique change. As usual, the final chapters give you those famous Jodi Picoult twists that leads to the ‘aha’ moment.

The book is obviously well researched and, as usual, Jodi Picoult does not disappoint. It is sure to be another great success for her. I can't wait to read her next book & see what she has planned. Although her books usually follow a set formula, each book is unique because of the topic.
