My hackels were up most of part two. I don't know if its plasebo or the book, but it was not a good idea to bring it to bed!
Why wont Danny tell his parents what he sees? 'Cause he is afraid he will hurt their feelings? I can't stomace the thought of going around being afraid all winter, 'cause of a feeling, and not for my child to be, either.
And why can't that frakking Ullman buy a new boiler, so the winter-attendant can live in a appartment in town and drive the snomobile up each day!?
(Ok, I see how it wouldn't be a book if that was the case, but still!)
But yeah, so far, so good!

I've asked myself this question many times while reading The Shining - why would anyone do that to themselves? But at the same time I understand why Jack needs the job as a caretaker, it is a oppurtunity for him to earn money and finish his play. A second chance and a fresh start for the whole family. Or at least it could have been.

This is explained more thoroughly later in the book, in the next part if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, I liked Dick a lot as well! Hope Danny's shine can reach all the way to Florida.

I understand that Jack needs the job, and that it seems like a good start for the family - altought I still think its really creepy.
I think my problem with Danny not telling, is that it hurts me to read about it. I understand it, I really do, but it still makes me sad...
Marta, I agree. Stephen King really know how to make even the weirdest guy into a human, and I love it!
