Fantasy Book Club discussion

Who is reading Paladin of Souls, and what are your first impressions of the book?
No spoilers, please.

I have been itching to read this one, so I am in!

I've been looking forward to this one. I won't be starting until mid-October though.

I read The Curse of Chalion a few years ago and I've forgotten some of it even though I really enjoyed. For those who've read both, is it crucial to refresh my memory of book 1 before starting Paladin of Souls?

I hope to find time to reread this one for discussion, but I believe the MC in this one is Isla (?) the "crazy" mother from the first book, and that's it really, maybe a brief mention of the others. So if you kinda remember the setting/plot of the first book, that might be helpful, but you can read them each as stand alone.

I will be re-reading Curse first myself, but I don't think that the details are crucial.

I didn't expect to like it because it departed from the characters of The Curse of Chalion but found myself pleasantly surprised.

I really enjoyed book 1, so I can't wait to dive into the second. It's been sitting on my TBR bookshelf for years. Bujold has such a wonderful writing style.

I listened to the first one last year so I might try and squeeze this in.
