Holy Mulan!

Here's another tale of a plucky young gal who chops off her hair and pretends to be a boy all in an effort to join the army.

Discworld's Don't Ask - Don't Tell policy has excluded all sorts of potential soldiers, so many new recruits are packing a mess kit full of secrets.

This should be a fun war!

Let's hope Halliburton finds a way to make a profit!

I'm looking forward to it. I'm off to see if I can get a copy right now.

Oh, wow--he wasn't just making stuff up. There's a book on women in WWI by the same title (which I can't find on Amazon. But I found a bunch of other books with that title, many about women in war and politics).

Geez - there are a lot of books that share this title. Are they really THAT afraid of us?

Heh heh heh. Personally, I've always had a special spot in my heart for the the Wife of Bath.

They've been scared of us for a very long time. They know that most of them are superfluous to the survival of the species.

Oh. My.

Hereafter, whenever men are acting like...well, you know--I'm going to be thinking "it's the socks talking."

Loved this one!

Though I'm not even half way through my 800 page kitten-squisher, I WILL get to this one before the month's end.

Okay - as the day wears on and the pile of laundry seems to shrink not at all, it's fairly obvious I'm not going to finish this one before the month slithers away at midnight.

At about a third of the way through now.

My favorite line so far?

She located the men's privy, which indeed, stank of inaccuracy.

Yeah. I'm familiar with that.

And about those trouser-stuffins... go ahead - sock it to me!

Keep going, Melki. I'll wait for you.

I can't believe I haven't been on here for two days. I got called in to work yesterday just as I was finishing breakfast, and had to jam all the other stuff I have schduled for the weekend into a smaller bundle.
