Oh, wow--he wasn't just making stuff up. There's a book on women in WWI by the same title (which I can't find on Amazon. But I found a bunch of other books with that title, many about women in war and politics).

Though I'm not even half way through my 800 page kitten-squisher, I WILL get to this one before the month's end.
Okay - as the day wears on and the pile of laundry seems to shrink not at all, it's fairly obvious I'm not going to finish this one before the month slithers away at midnight.

I can't believe I haven't been on here for two days. I got called in to work yesterday just as I was finishing breakfast, and had to jam all the other stuff I have schduled for the weekend into a smaller bundle.
