If you find an eBook publisher who gives you word count, we will use that; and for the purposes of this challenge we will divide the wordcount by 250 per page.
From techtips.salon.com "This gives a rough rule of thumb of one page in print equating to 2KB."

METHOD 1: There's a quicker way to look up if a you want to know if a book you want to read it 'shelved' on a certain shelf. I learned it in SOS. (Thanks, Daffodil!)
Example using Claimed

METHOD 2: A quick tip for those of you searching to see if your book is on a shelf. (Thanks, Danielle Gypsy Soul)
Click on the book you want to know about. On the left side of the book main page is a list of Main Genres with the number of users who have tagged that book this way. Click on the number not the genre. You can click on any of them. This will take you to the page that lists the people who tagged it that way. At the very top you'll see the address for the link -the last part of the link will look like this:
shelf/users/123456789-name-of-your-book?shelf=romance
Simply change the word after the equal sign to the tag you are looking for and hit enter. It will tell you how many people have tagged that book with your tag or if no one has.
This is the easiest way to check for tags. Occasionally their isn't any numbers on the MPG genre listing - simply click on see top shelves which will bring up the first page of tags and click on any of the number of users. Remember click on the number of users not the tag name.
How to see if a book is on a particular list:
Click on the book that you want to check:
I'm using Burn for Me

Underneath Friend Reviews and popular answered questions you will see: Lists with this book. Click on More Lists for this book and it will bring up every list that the book is on. You can then scroll through and see if it is on a particular list. It will also tell you what # it is on the list. For example: This book is # 6574th on the list Books That Should Be Made Into Movies (2nd Page of lists) and would be worth one point.

Novella
A work of fiction between 20,000 and 49,999 words is considered a novella. Once a book hits the 50,000 word mark, it is generally considered a novel. (However, a standard novel is around 80,000 words, so books between 50,000 to 79,999 words may be called short novels.) A novella is the longest of the short fiction forms, granting writers freedom for an expanded story, descriptions, and cast of characters, but still keeping the condensed intensity of a short story. Modern trends generally seem to be moving away from publishing novellas. Novellas are more commonly published as eBooks in specific genres, especially romance, sci-fi, and fantasy.
Novelette
A novelette falls in the range of 7,500 to 19,999 words. The term once implied a book that had a romantic or sentimental theme, but today a novelette can be any genre. While some writers still use the term novelette, others might prefer to simply call it a short novella or long short story. Like the novella, a novelette may be difficult to pitch to an agent, but might work better as an eBook in niche genres.
Short story
Short stories fall in the range of about 1,000 to 7,499 words. Due to its brevity, the narrative in a short story is condensed, usually only focusing on a single incident and a few characters at most. A short story is self-contained and is not part of a series. When a number of stories are written as a series it's called a story sequence. Short stories are commonly published in magazines and anthologies, or as collections by an individual author.
Flash fiction
Flash fiction is generally used as an umbrella term that refers to super short fiction of 1,000 words or less, but still provides a compelling story with a plot (beginning, middle, and end), character development, and usually a twist or surprise ending. The exact length of flash fiction isn't set, but is determined by the publisher.

Preeti's Advice: Once you click on the badge you want to create and the create page opens, you will see six options on the left. Button Layout, Background, etc. The last option is Layers. When you click on Layers, it shows a list of the layers. You have to ensure that Background is lower than your image and Badge is on the very top. Basically, it should be

Think not of the books you’ve bought as a “to be read” pile. Instead, think of your bookcase as a wine cellar. You collect books to be read at the right time, the right place, and the right mood.

Great BOOK ADVICE that I still can't bring myself to take...
Rebecca: Marla, I used to be the same way until I saw a quote on a Starbucks Cup about reading to a certain page number based on your age. In doing a quick google search, it appears to have been written by Nancy Pearl - here's her thoughts on the matter:

I've realized that there are always more books out there to move onto. The only rule where I have to finish is if I've spent money on it. Hope you enjoyed the article!
6/18/24 ~ Kateb's method
i have so many books to read that i dont persist if i find a book not up to my standards. And no, my standards does not mean wonderful grammar etc. It means it has to keep my attention.
in case of not keeping my attention i find i can skim the last paragraph of each chapter and read the last chapter, then done with that book. ha ha

MY 1ST DNF!!!! ~ Dreaming Anastasia by Joy Preble
It wasn't terrible but I'm not into dreams and mystical realism. This was part of my Crazy Challenge Connection's Dare to DNF Challenge. I wasn't sure after 1 chapter, but decided to DNF after 10% (30 pages). The thing that clinched it was Anastasia's letter to her brother. It was difficult to read and there were a couple of words that I finally skipped because I couldn't decipher the font text. I noticed that there were at least 3 more letters in the book and I would rather not.
I kept thinking, I could finish this, but then I'd think, but I don't want to. Now the floodgates are open...
