Hey! We started Creepy Book Club one year ago!! I didn't realize!
So, about Broken Monsters...[SPOILERS] I loved this! I was a bit worried with how many characters there were and the fact that you know the killer is Clayton the whole time. I have to say, it was so rewarding to read from Clayton's POV knowing he's the killer already, Beukes wrote his chapter expertly, I think. I loved how everything all came together right at the end, as well. All of the different characters, puzzle pieces, made me wonder when they would all intersect. Again, I think this was done expertly by Beukes, and the whole "nothing matters anymore unless it's seen online by millions" is a great discussion topic. Extremely timely. I listened to this on audio book and the voice actors were awesome, they really helped to get me into the story.
I really enjoyed this book. I had mixed feelings about Gabriella, she just seemed a little all over the place to me and a little inconsistent with what she did at any given moment. I thought the author did an amazing job of converging all the characters into the climax of the story because for a while I wasn’t sure how they all fit together. But definitely a solid read!
