James Dunlap | 1 comments Hey everyone... I'm new to this forum (and a new author).

Just thought I'd introduce myself and tell ya all a little about my book.

First, let me say, it's cool that there's a forum for writers of speculative fiction! I love it!

Moving on...

My name is James, and I've been writing all my life, but never really made anything public, save for a few blogs and online stuff here and there. Mostly I think I was just waiting for a good enough idea to hit me.

So, fast forward to the winter of last year, when I suddenly had an idea I was to become very passionate about, and thus started writing my novel "The Illuminators" in December (of 2013). I've since made 8 drafts, honing, perfecting, -and even sent it out to a few literary agents (before I realized that all they want is poppy genre fiction and memoirs for soccer moms), and so, finally, I self-published.

So, without further ado, a little bit about my novel:

It takes place in a dystopian future (of course!) in which corporations have complete hegemony over a puppet government, a sort of "false democracy" in a country known only as FreeWorld. The leader of this "CorpState" is an intimidating psychopath named Leopold Skilling, the main antagonist, along with his protege, Colonel Franklin Id.

However, unbeknownst to the evil oligarchy that rules
FreeWorld, on the other side of the globe is a thriving minimalist cult that has been in hiding for over a thousand years. The leader of this cult, Master Ghanu, is a wise old sage with a protege of his own, -a rescued slave from the FreeWorld, named Sraosha, and together, the two men are plotting a terrorist war to overthrow the corporate autocracy.

If you'd like to a little bit more of a description of the novel, it's all on the Amazon store website for the book: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O5YWIJ8

Thanks for reading!

Peace!
