Basically how do you pick the next book that you read?

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments I read greedily and often cant make up my mind at all, so I switch from book to book, often reading several at the same time, just as well I used a kindle! Usually have a couple of audio books on the go too, one light enough for driving, the other, something that'll get me through the ironing!

I am the same. I get bored and have to switch books too. right now I can barely finish The Weird Sisters as I have lost interest in them.

T4bsF (Call me Flo) (time4bedsaidflorence) I'm definitely a "one at a time" reader and get completely immersed (if the author is worthy), but choosing the next one usually depends on where I am and what is going on in my life at the time. For example, if I'm in sunny Crete on holiday, my choices would be different to when I'm at home.

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) It's got to be written well, attractive, interesting, and calling out to me.

Shannon (scottishshanny) | 5 comments I made a list, I was too good at just grabbing books and trying to read them all at once.
so I made a list of books I wanted to read and I go down the list in order so it controls my splurging a bit.....unless there's a sale on....

But I get a lot of people who just pass me books and tell me I need to read them and I have a pile by my bed that I work through too.

I usually have a kindle book and paper novel running together and even sometimes a PDF on my phone. But I'd like to try one at a time so it gets all my attention.

Carol (carol07) I talk to my friends and get a lot of recommendations from them. Also, I check out what people are reading on Goodreads and add what looks good to my TBR folder.

Carol (carol07) There was actually an article in today's paper on how do people pick their next book. This one guy has 90 bookshelves in his home. He uses an online number randomizer to pick a shelf. There are, 45 books on a shelf. He uses the randomizer to pick a book. I thought that was kind neat.
