Valerie | 22 comments Oh my goodness!!! I'm SO excited!!! LOL I just found out from one of the blogs that there is going to be a new Jane Austen annotated edition coming out! Wooo Hooooo!!!

Persuasion: an annotated edition

This edition is edited by Robert Morrison, done in the same format as the P & P annotated edition, published by Harvard University Press. Won't be out until November. I LOVED the P & P edition, and have been hoping that they would do more! So.... only SEVEN months to wait! LOL As soon as they make it available for pre-order, I am ON IT!!! LOL :)

***Update: In addition, according to the same blog, Harvard Univ. Press is planning to do ALL 6 of the Austen novels in this annotated format, with Sense & Sensibility being worked on by the editor of the P & P edition. Very cool!!

Patricia Gulley I tried to order it used and found that they had it listed incorrectly. Still on my Wish List as Persuasion is my favorite Jane.

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) I just saw in the library a book titled Jane Austen and the Madness of Lord Byron. Did not get it, I think it was a mystery, not sure.

I don't know if anyone mentioned "Being Jane" (2007) to you but it's pretty entertaining if you can get by Anne Hathaway's "English" accent.

Anna (SylviaGrant) | 162 comments Anastasia, I have seen Being Jane!! I couldn't get through it. I hated it. But thanks anyway.

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) Never liked Being Jane, either. Anne Hathaway, come on!

Patricia Gulley Robin, I just finished JA and the MOLB. It is the Stephanie Barron series with JA as the detective. It is after her brother Henry's wife, Eliza, dies and they go off to Brighton together to have a rest. Henry's treat, even though Jane is earning a few shillings from P&P. Lord B gets accused of murder. Okay, but not my favorite, and Jane is beginning to sound old and sad. The next in the series is out, will be in paper in August, and I think it is near the end.

Anna (SylviaGrant) | 162 comments And what James is talking to Anne about?? I mean, come on. It's PG when it really should be PG-13. Any one else not like Becoming Jane?

message 12: by Robin (new)

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) I saw the video and was turned off by the "fight scene" which I thought was not in any way part of the story. And James McAlvoy? I know they tried to pass it off as a love story, but sheesh, give us Janeites some credit, that is not what we are looking for. I guess they wanted to make it contemporary feeling. There may have been someone in her life, but that got squelched.

Anna (SylviaGrant) | 162 comments To be honest, I want to throw up when James started to talk about..I can't even allow myself to write what he was started to talk about, it was so gross!! I mean I was ready to punch the screenwriter. I mean what was up with that?? Talking about animals doing (never mind) it is too gross.

message 14: by Robin (new)

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) I think I know what you are referring to Anna, and that proves that they wanted to sensationalize something between her and Tom, I guess his name was in the movie. They wanted to make her more believable, as if we needed that kind of validation.

message 15: by Anna (new)

Anna (SylviaGrant) | 162 comments But have that one scene and totally ruin the movie for me is very cruel!!

message 16: by Robin (new)

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) I know, prior to the movie I heard comments about the "scene" which you are referring to, but did not get so far in my viewing of the movie to see it. Why does Hollywood think that they have to make movies of everything, and if it is not a new concept, remake old movies, just part of their recycled ideas.

message 17: by Anna (new)

Anna (SylviaGrant) | 162 comments I totally agree with you Ms. Robin. They haven't made Gone with the wind into a new movie mostly because Mr. Gable plays a really good Rhette that they dare not touch and mess up history. Me either (viewing the movie I mean).
