John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5193 comments I'm almost done with the second book. The world remains interesting, with some good character development even if they're stock characters. Plotting, yeah, it's weak.

There's an obvious comic book vibe, but at about the 85% mark it got a little too obvious. (view spoiler)

Mark (markmtz) | 2822 comments LOL. I don't read Marvel comics, but I've been in our Marvel-saturated environment long enough now, that when you point it out, I can see the similarities. The second book was enjoyable but not stellar. I'll read the next book in the series when it comes out.

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5193 comments Yeah, the obvious comics stuff is making me laugh, but I'll likely read the next two as well. She's promising a "bang up ending" to the fourth book. Which would be nice for once!

I noticed Roanhorse has a Star Wars book anticipated for November. There her use of known characters will be a strength instead of a weakness.

Buzz Park (buzzpark) | 394 comments I read the 2nd book and it was very much along the same line (enjoyed it and will continue the series).

No spoiler here, but Maggie takes a moral stand that seems noble but fairly questionable under the circumstances lol

Melissa (justmelissa42) | 14 comments I read them both in a couple days. I liked the first better. Something about the second bugged me but I have not been able to put my finger on it. I do like both and want to read the third one.

William Saeednia-Rankin | 441 comments I've just finished the second book. Thought it was a great, action-packed read with strong world-building and a satisfying ending.

I thought the ending of the first book was OK, but didn't really match the pace of the rest of the book.

The ending of the second book was...epic. I like that!
