It looks like we've read a few of the same books. Here's a couple I enjoyed that you might like:
Agnes Browne by Brendan O'Carroll
Unnatural Fire: an Ashby de la Zouche Mystery by Fidelis Morgan
Samurai's Garden by Gail Tsukiyama
Saffon Kitchen by Yasmin Crowther
Shiva Dancing by Bharti Kirchner
Persian Pickle Club by Sandra Dallas
Welcome to the Great Mysterious by Lorna Landvik
Kingston by Starlight by Christopher John Farley
Shoot the Moon by Billie Letts
Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kid
Mozart's Sister by Rita Charbonnier
Mr. Darcy's Daughters by Elisabeth Aston
Hope that gives you some good ideas :)

don't knock the fluff. It is a great escape. Every once in awhile I toss in a "classic" to ease my guilt.
I don't mind fluff. I've just realized that's all I've read for almost 2 years! eek. I still have some Kim Harrison, Mary Janice Davidson and LKH on in my TBR pile and All Together Dead is on the "buy" list when it's in paperback but I'd like to find some new stuff. I promised myself 12 new authors this year and I hate wasting credits (or worse, money) on stuff I get home and just don't like. Makes me cranky.
My husband just asked me why I'm looking at new stuff when I have about 30 unread books on my shelf. LOL. Hello, my name is Jackie and I'm a book addict. :)

Rachel..
I just compared our books.. I had to giggle, I think that's as many books as I've ever had in common with anyone! Let me know what you think of Wicked. It's on my TBR pile

A few that I really enjoyed in the last year have been Life of Pi and The Kite Runner. Life of Pi was a little dull the first 100 pages, but still incredibly easy to read. The Kite Runner was amazing!

What types of books do you like to read?

Rachel

Don't let the big numbers on the waiting list get you down. Sometimes they move very quickly, depending on how popular the book is.
Congrats on your book. I'll stop by your website.

Like Nancy says -- sometimes the wait list goes fast.

I have started a review circle for my book on Goodreads. Basically, it means that if you want to read my book,Born Without a Tail, and read it for free, then you join the review circle. (send me your name and address). In the interest of privacy, no one will have your address except for me, and the person sending you the book. It works like this:
A copy of the book has already been mailed to the first person who signed up. She has two weeks, give or take, to read it. When she has finished, she will review the book on Goodreads and on amazon, and then will mail it to the next person on the list, who will read it, review it and pass it on, etc.
To be a part of the review circle, you just have to agree to read and review the book and mail it to the next person on the list. Since you are all pretty used to that sort of scenario, I invite you all to join in.
I'm looking for some suggestions. What would you guys recommend?
