Here we have a book that covers the great travesty known as "La Leyenda Negra" or The Black (Dark) Legend. We are going to be learning the roots of the hatred, distrust, fear and condescension that toward the Hispanic world that is so prevalent in our society, heightened now because of the immigration crisis. This book is a good introduction to the history and reality of Spain and the Spanish empire, her enemies and detractors which did not always come from without.

So we begin! In the introduction Powell gives a bit of time to the Mexican revolution beginning in the early 20th century, the Calles revolution. One very big connection to the revolution and earlier hatred of all things Spanish (and Catholic) is Freemasonry. The official history of Mexico was written by the Masonic government, and it is a gross injustice to many people in antiquity. The shear amount of schools throughout Mexico in the 16th century is mind blowing.

To better understand the revolution and the players in the revolution, I suggest the books, contemporary to the revolution, “No God Next Door” and “Mexican Martyrdom” and for a general history with fantastic source notes that is focused toward the revolution, “Blood Drenched Altars”.

Armed with those books you will better understand the Mexican government’s motivation to wipe away the fantastic Hispanoamerican history as it truly was.
