message 18: by Trish Le (new)

Trish Le | 1 comments Currently, The One Who Eats Monsters. It pretty slow in the beginning. I get it they have to develop characters and settings, especially when it's a paranormal/fantasy kind of novel. As the magical powers and immortality can cause character to feel 1-D, if not develop properly. For a YA it's really gritty and dark, it deals with sexual violence/assault, pedophile, rape/gang-rape and that is all just within the first 50ish pages...
I normally don't read dark novels because i easily feel emotional empathy and it makes me sad/anxious reading about the violence that happens to the fictional characters. but so far the writing and story is captivating me enough to push forward. Hopefully, they get a happy ending...?
