Lina Al-Midfa | 81 comments So I was wondering, whether anyone else besides me collects thrones and toys. Lol. I'm being serious..

Ever since GRRM's A Song of Ice & Fire has screened on TV, I've been collecting those little Funko Pop figurines (well, you wouldn't call them figurines) but toys.

I also got this sick throne that I put between some books on my book shelf. I'm going to take a picture of that and post it.
I'm sure someone else collects this stuff, not just me. Wanted to know, is there anybody out there.....

Other than A Song of Ice & Fire, are there any other fantasy toys or gadgets that people collect?

Martha (tilla) | 194 comments I used to collect LotR action figures until hubby complained they were taking up too much space. So, I bagged 'em up and donated them to AmVets. I collected those State quarters and stamps and books. I collect books

Chris Jags Basically just whatever stuff comes with the Elder Scrolls collector's editions (Maps, figurines). I don't have anything for a book series, but I'd absolutely buy a figurine of Carnival from Scar Night if one was made professionally.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 325 comments I collect books and exercise equipment.

But mostly books. Lots and lots of books.

I think book collecting goes without saying among the regular crowd here :)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 325 comments I used to think so...but I've met a lot of people who "catch and release."

O_O

Lára | 479 comments I collect notebooks, just recently realised that. I've been collecting them since high school and have never written anything in them.

Also, books and plants. I have almost the same amount of blank notebooks as books and that's a lot, and live plants follow closely

O_o

Well, now that you say that...

I collect notebooks as well. I write in them occasionally but they are mostly blank. I have less than 20, though. Doing good :)

I also collect calendars (during the year). IDK why but i can never find the perfect calendar. This year I had...3I think (not including the Outlook calendar & the phone calendar). I used one of them.

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Not really. I don't even count books as a collection, since I usually just stick to one edition and don't buy more than one copy, but I've got a lot of books in general and probably almost like buying books more than reading them.

I do collect Ciruelo Cabral's dragon calendars though. I get one every Christmas. Some of his art http://www.dac-editions.com/posters.htm

Those are beautiful!

Lina Al-Midfa | 81 comments For some reason I'm not able to use the website, it's acting all funny. Mobile app here I go... Come to think of it I also collect calendars. I used to collect all the movie tickets after I'm finished with the movie theatre, but as time passed the ink on the cheap ticket wore off and you couldn't tell which movie, what date so I just threw them all. I collect books too! (Goes without saying haha) I mean only for my fav authors I have all the different editions and different illustrators. I started collecting the ASOIAF toys because I thought everyone was doing the same! I would love for them to start making Fitz figurines and Nighteyes I would have a field day I think.

Lina Al-Midfa | 81 comments To Mrs Joseph sorry you cant hit reply on this app! I collect the calendars cos I like to look back over the years and see what happened (I wrote some memorable moments in those little boxes)

It's so strange, like an old song that brings you past memories, that day on the calendar also does the same for me.

Sydney Chapters (SydneyChapters) Besides books? I guess movie tickets (this is more recent) especially book-to-movie adaptations.

message 14: by Steven (new)

Steven Simpson | 22 comments When I can afford them, I find first editions of books that I KNOW I will read again and again. I just completed my set of signed 1sts of Lev Grossman's Magicians series. I got lucky — Lev came to my local bookstore and spoke for all three releases.

message 15: by Martha (new)

Martha (tilla) | 194 comments I have a signed 1st of GRR Martin's vampire novel. And one of that Dark Swords anthology

message 16: by Steven (new)

Steven Simpson | 22 comments That's why I love my Kindle. I can buy a book for less $ and if I LOVE the book (and it's a recent release) I can usually track down a 1st hardcover edition.

Nice!

message 18: by Nadia_nao (new)

Nadia_nao I don't think i collect books, because i don't buy different editions of the same book. I just like having my personal space full of books.
However, i do collect stamps and keychains.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 325 comments IDK if I agree that one needs to collect multiple copies of the same books in order to consider themselves a book collector. I think that its more related to what you do with your books and how you decide to collect them.

Example: I am an huge Andre Norton fan and as such I collect her books. I have - at last count - 43 books written by Andre Norton. I have been collecting her work - which can be a bit painstaking - for quite some years now. Sometimes I have to comfort myself with omnibus editions when I can't locate originals (or originals in good condition).

I feel that collecting multiple editions is just one way to collect books.

Will Mccauley (vocrehabguy) I used to collect a lot of action figures, especially DBZ, McFarlane Toys, and LoTR. The pride of my collection is a McFarlane Toys Akira figure of Tetsuo with his huge arm made of scrap and debris. Stan Winston, the special effects guru behind Alien and Terminator, designed some figures for a line called Realm of the Claw but I only have one of those.

Lára | 479 comments Since I don´t know how to write with anything except with a fountain pen, I´ve started collecting them - fountain pens (and inks; I have blue, black and purple at the moment).

I´m still collecting blank notebooks, books and plants.

message 22: by Dan (last edited Mar 08, 2016 02:56PM) (new)

Dan (TheGreatBeast) I've collected many things throughout the years, Comics, Magic Cards, Video Games, Books, Movies, music etc... I've reduced my habits to a select few, sold off my games, don't buy Cards much anymore, and slowed my pace for my music and movie collection (I have around 1000 CDs and 400 LPs, I'm gonna guess about 1000 movies), comics I have also slowed my pace, books though... that addiction just keeps getting worse each year. My signed and limited editions collection is becoming dangerously large.

message 23: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Xu (kxu65) | 530 comments I collect different collection of SFF books, especially older printings and different covers with different editions. Its why I have so many different copies of books. It helps I find them all for free or under a $1. When I find a better copy of the same edition or earlier printings I give them away.

message 24: by Caitlin (last edited Mar 09, 2016 04:14PM) (new)

Caitlin Francis I don't really collect all that much...besides books. I do however like Harry Potter related paraphernalia, so I have a few of the Pop! Vinyl toys and I have different editions of the books (to have different covers). Mainly I don't like a lot of clutter in my house I avoid collecting things that would need to be displayed

message 25: by Scott (new)

Scott (thekeeblertree) I never really have but my fiancé collects the hell out of funko pops and bookmarks. They are all over our bookshelves, starting to get a little creepy. Hope those toys never come alive cuz we'd be screwed
