Lissette S | 5 comments The novel i am reading right now is entitled Willow by Julia Hoban. The main character Willow is going through a very difficult time in her life. Two years ago, Willow's parents died in a car crash. In the car crash willow was driving without a license because her parents had drank too much. It was not her fault the other car had hit the car and only she survived. Willow feels very guilty throughout the book. Because of the death of her parents she lead to self mutilation. If you are wondering what i mean by se3lf mutilation. It means that she is harming herself in some type of way. The way Willow harms herself is by cutting herself with a razor blade. Willow believes cutting herself helps cope with the pain. In the beginniing of the book, Willow describes cutting herself in the higthschool bathroom. She cuts herself whenever she feels upset. The way will describes herself cutting her arm is very vivid and detailed. It made me feel sick to my stomach but also i felt bad for Willow. The text code i used was the eye because i could visualize her cutting herself in the bathgroom stall. Do you feel bad for Willow? Why or Why not? Do you think cutting herslef is the right way to cope with her pain of her parents death?
