An ambitious, debut novel about life after the end of the world. They say history repeats itself. If we rebuild the world, can we stop it from repeating itself again? This is the adventure of Reckoning of Days, the new novel from Jay Sandover.

Triste is the dying Earth's sister planet and first colony. It is a tropical world with a warm ocean known for periodic, violent tropical cyclones. Yoshi is an orphan who lives in a tent community on the capital city's enormous beach. He lives by scavenging parts from crashed military drones, escaping from the city police and taking care of a small band of younger orphans. The kids run into all sorts of trouble and danger, not all of it of their own making.

Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Colonel Endling is a veteran of the mission to permanently settle Triste. His obsession with the disappearance of Triste's first explorer leads him and his young assistant, Sebastian Sleeper, to tangle with the heavily-armed mercenaries of the family that controls the planet and its three cities. On Earth, aside from a few coveted locations like Colorado, you can hardly find a vestige of the former culture and population. When he is framed for a shocking, public assassination attempt, the Colonel is sent back to Earth to the great desert prison of Texas. Sebastian Sleeper remains behind, and events reveal that the explorer's disappearance was just the first of Triste's thrilling secrets.

Known to only a handful of people, there are windows between the worlds. Time on Triste has always been a bit peculiar. One man has a map of the windows and where they lead...
