The dreamers walk among us . . . and so do the dreamed. Those who dream cannot stop dreaming – they can only try to control it. Those who are dreamed cannot have their own lives – they will sleep forever if their dreamers die.

And then there are those who are drawn to the dreamers. To use them. To trap them. To kill them before their dreams destroy us all.

Ronan Lynch is a dreamer. He can pull both curiosities and catastrophes out of his dreams and into his compromised reality.

Jordan Hennessy is a thief. The closer she comes to the dream object she is after, the more inextricably she becomes tied to it.

Carmen Farooq-Lane is a hunter. Her brother was a dreamer . . . and a killer. She has seen what dreaming can do to a person. And she has seen the damage that dreamers can do. But that is nothing compared to the destruction that is about to be unleashed. . . .

Started this one on audio last night. Got through the prologue and the first 4 chapters. It's so fantastic to be back with Ronan and to be listening to Will Patton's narration - his narration in Steifvater's world is like soul food for me <3

(view spoiler)[ I am enjoying the bits of the Lynch brothers all stuck together in a car for this trip. I'm anxious to have Ronan and Adam reunited but for the time being I want to soak in the banter that results from him and Declan being in such close proximity lol.

Jordan has been introduced and I think I am going to love her character as the story progresses. She's intriguing and seems to have a good grasp on who she is.

The Dreamer hunters are ick.. I'm not really sure how I feel about them yet. (hide spoiler)]

I'm going to be taking this one slow as I want to relish every word of it honestly!

I got up to chapter 8 last night but I'm reading the hardcover. I attempted to listen to The Raven Boys on audio and absolutely HATED that narrator so I didn't even bother trying this one. It'll probably be a pretty slow read for me just because of Maggie's writing style.

(view spoiler)[ Ronan and Adam's reunion was so awkward at first, and I didn't like how much of the truth Adam is hiding from his friends. I get why he did it, but it seems so unlike him to hide who he is or not even give Ronan a heads up.

I haven't really formed any opinions on Jordan yet, just trying to figure out where she is going to fit into the story. But I am curious why the other group is killing off the dreamers instead of using them to their advantage. Or maybe they said it and I was too tired to remember? (hide spoiler)]

I'll be listening to some more tonight at work and will post some thoughts again. I think it's so funny being on here and seeing how differently people react to narrators and even just stories in general. How some people like you hate Patton's narration and others like me fell in love with it! Same goes for Stiefvater's writing style in general - people seem to either love or hate it with little in between.

i'm on chapter 3, i'm loving it so far. Maggie's writing is amazing and magical but i guess we all have our preferences i also enjoyed Patton's narration in the raven cycle XD i agree with you Heather people either love Maggie's writing or hate it.

i never thought about how hard it's for Ronan to sleep in any place other than the farm or his and Gansy's old place, beside the things he can bring back from his dreams he can die if he didn't dream for a while! i want to know how he found that out. also he called Adam the man he loves!!! i'm gonna freak out every time Ronan say something romantic about Adam

i hope Declen is not doing something stupid that will screw them over later.

(view spoiler)[ I don't think they said why they are killing them off, or we both missed it! I'm curious to the why as well. Anxious for more of Jordan - not set on how I feel from the one small chapter but definitely intrigued to learn more about her.

The Adam/Ronan reunion wasn't quite as sweet as I hoped. I agree there was some awkwardness to it and I don't think Adam is being true to himself with his new found friends and I don't like that. But I also wonder how much leaving his family and then Gansey's group would change him. (hide spoiler)]

they said something about people called the visionaries, they can see the dreamers and they're predicting the world will end by one of them, it will happen by a dreamt fire so they are looking for the dreamers and killing them to save the world.
i want to see how Jordan will fit in the story, i like her so far.
i'm wondering who is talking to ronan in his dreams , could it be another dreamer or one of the visionaries whatever they are.

the fairy market is cool, so many things could happen with all of them around. i hope we get to see who Bryde is.
i want to know why jordan and her doppelgangers want the dark lady painting, what could they possible want it for, i don't think they want to paint it, they said something about how this fair could save Hennessy's life and maybe stop the black things that happen to her when she doesn't dream, if that's the case Ronan will be so happy that there's a solution.

so they want the painting so Hennessy can dream of something other than her nightmare, too bad it's not a cure for the nightwash. Declan will be so angry when he finds out the painting is missing. i also like seeing Declan from Jordan pov, it's different of how the other characters see him.

i'm intrigued to find out more about the woman who look like their mother and the boy who looks like Ronan, and why they helped Ronan. i think someone dreamt them, maybe Ronan when he was a kid or Niall dreamt Aurora based on this woman.

also what happened to Opal! we didn't see her at all in the farm

the red headed girl chapters are so confusing, could she be the thing that Adam saw.
i'm so excited to see Ronan working with Hennessy, i want to know what is she dreaming about that made her sleep less than 20 minutes for ten years.
it's weird seeing Mattew made at his brothers, but they deserve that, they should've told him a long time ago.the scene when he found out he's one of Ronan's dreams made me almost cry and how he told Ronan he's as big of a liar as Declan :"(

Declan has another mother,he did not sound surprised by that information, and how is there a copy of Niall, if Niall is the one who dreamt this guy shouldn't he be dead now!
liliana is a visionary. her chapters make more sense now, i understand more about them but i also have a lot of questions, they're very scary though

i expected Bryde to look less normal after all the anticipation to see him.
and what happened to Adam, he didn't answer any of ronan's calls or texts, he better be okay because ronan can't handle that. i honestly thought Adam and Ronan were going to break up at some point in the book and i'm SO glad that didn't happen, Ronan already feel lonely as shit with Adam in his life.

i'm surprised of how much i felt for Declan, i didn't think much of him in the raven cycle but i loved him here, how much he does to keep his brothers safe, it's a very big responsibility, no wonder he's so up tight.

i loved this, the writing and the atmosphere and everything was amazing, i'm so happy it didn't disappoint me.

(view spoiler)[ I agree, it is nice seeing Declan from another perspective!! I've very curious about the Aurora and Ronan look alikes. Also what was up with the hitchhiker/car wreck scene, I got a little lost there. Although I did love hearing my kids name in the story (Jensen!). Parcival is getting more interesting to hear about - learning he killed his family and watching him gain manners from Farouk lol.

@Farren I was in the same boat! I'm finally down to only like 4 at the moment so I'm starting to catch up.. this was a tough month reading wise!

Just finished ch 49

(view spoiler)[ I never thought I would grow to adore Declan Lynch..... His fierce devotion to protecting Matthew is so sweet. Also he has some funny one liners like when he told Ronan to 'shave that beautiful bald head' and mentioned buying a zoo membership for Ronan's b-day lol.

I like Jordan but not really Hennessey. I enjoyed Jordan's interactions with Declan as well so far and hope they see each other more.

Ronan and Adam's moments together are precious but we definitely aren't getting enough of them here which is bumming me out big time! (hide spoiler)]

The red headed girl and the old lady chapters have me a little confused, not gonna lie.

Poor Hennessy seeing her mother kill herself and these awful dreams she keeps having. She isn't my favorite character by any means but man, what a rough life. (hide spoiler)]

That ending was a bit of a cliffhanger and I'm kinda sad about that. Otherwise, everything about this was great. I adore Maggie's writing style so much and as usual Will Patton's narration was exactly what I wanted. (hide spoiler)]

Jumping in on this one! I just started it today, but I'm not very far into it

I have fallen behind so that will give me a chance yo catch up. Lol

Starting this one a little early as I've run out of any other audios

First quarter - (view spoiler)[I love how this begins by describing each of the three Lynch brothers in such a unique way. They really are like the three bears porridge - one is too sweet, one too stern, and one is just right! Or, at least, that was Ronan Lynch is for me.

I'm was so glad to see my two faves reunited and that Adam seemed to have found his place in Harvard. This was ruined when Ronan found out he told his new friends fake father and son stories to hide his bleak past. Poor boy! I wish they could live happily ever after but Ronan's dreams means that isn't going to be the case.

These new perspectives are interesting and mean nothing good. (hide spoiler)]

Second quarter - (view spoiler)[I'm still completely engaged in this but I vastly prefer Ronan's sections to the new characters that this introduces. Obviously The Raven Cycle has grown my bond with the Lynch family and I'm also familiar with all their previous troubles. With the portrait of his mother and the fairy market the perspectives are soon to coincide, so hopefully I can start to feel more invested in the other story-lines, too. Jordan is an intriguing character and I hope she and Ronan get to work together as they share the same dreamer problems.

It's odd to see the world beyond Henrietta and the leyline but with the same whimsical occurances. (hide spoiler)]

Third quarter - (view spoiler)[Jordan(s) and Ronan have finally joined the cause together. I'm glad as they seemed intent in fighting the wrong enemy previously.

I felt so sorry for her and her inability not to bring something back from her dreams. Her shock when she realised Ronan could control this made me really feel for her. (hide spoiler)]

Fourth quarter - (view spoiler)[I really enjoyed this, but it was no The Raven Boys. I spent four books with the group and so found I couldn't care about any other characters as much as I could for them or the Lynches, even though their stories were interwoven. I just wanted more brother interactions and to continue to learn about Matthew and Declan's characters.

I did, however, still enjoy this and thought the concept of multiple dreamers really intriguing to explore, as was the discovery of Declan's parentage and Lynch senior's copy.

It also pained me to read of Matthew's discovery that he was brought from Ronan's dream. I'm glad he found out but it hurt me to see this innocent puppy of a boy so saddened by the news. Opal's return counteracted this as I loved being reunited with her! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 11: So, I haven't actually read any of Maggie Stiefvater's other books! I didn't realise I should probably have read the other series (Raven Boys?) before I bought this one. I decided to give it a go anyways. (view spoiler)[ I don't feel like I am missing out on much because I haven't read the other series, besides some depth on some past events mentioned in this book. Maggie explains everything perfectly so I am not left confused.

I love the whole dreaming things into existence concept! The characters are great and I love her writing style with the occasional moments that make me laugh (notably the whole experience with the floating cow and Chainsaw. I am up for any book with a cheeky raven!). I am wondering how all of the characters are going to meet! I'm loving it! (hide spoiler)]
