Well, what a pleasant surprise! Not my normal kinda HF, but written well enough by Winspear that the detail in the era of post WWI really pulled me in. There are few things that seem " a little too much". Maise is modern woman, in not so modern times and it is a bit hard to believe she got the education and experiences she hungered for and deserved. Still, it was enjoyable to watch her progress.

I loved the back story of Maise-and I know this is a set up for the future books-but I hope to continue on with the series if the need arises, or I need a simple book to just enjoy.

annapi | 5505 comments I've seen this series before but have never tried it. Sounds like you need to suspend some disbelief, but sounds like fun too.

It was a fun read-I am glad that PBT members urged me to give it a try

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11067 comments I’m really enjoying this series. I read the first two so far. I like smart women, psychology, and the time period. The cases are interesting, (not too silly). I’m told they get even better as the series progresses.

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12569 comments Good to hear Nancy! I need, and was looking for a nice easy series like, just to have a fun read every now and then-it seems to me that Maise will fill that void for me.
