Polished off The Burning White. The ending was a perfect blend of just about what I was figuring, but getting there from a wholly unexpected direction. After a slow start early in the book, it was soooooo satisfying! And author Brent Weeks should get an award for managing to figure out how to do a post-credits scene in a book (actually more than one), and major geek props for straight up calling one of them "the shawarma scene."
Working on "The Ruin of Kings. So far so good, albiet a bit darker than I usually tend to lean. It's obviously taken a very heavy influence from Patrick Rothfuss, so I'll be curious to see where this goes.
QOTW - I'm one of those odd EPBOT aberrations in that I'm not super big on dressing up, so I don't think I've ever done one. I do quietly have an aspirational list though, of niche book cosplays that I'd tackle if I knew I could absolutely do them justice, most done in tandem with my husband.
I'd love to do either a generic Aes Sedai (with an Ash'aman or Warder) pair from Wheel of Time, or specifically do either characters Morainne (with Lan) or Verin. I'd also love to do Jasnah, or Navanni (with Dalinor), or Syl (with Kaladin) from the Stormlight Archive. Madam Pince (I'm a librarian, what???) or Madam Hooch from Harry Potter could be fun, too.

I only have manga finishes this week: I Hear the Sunspot: Limit Volume 2 and Takane & Hana, Vol. 11.
Otherwise, I'm still reading Steel Crow Saga, which is long, but which I'm really enjoying so far. I definitely will have to put the Kindle in airplane mode so I can finish it. *^_^*
QOTW: I don't really do cosplay or dress up for Halloween. I wouldn't mind doing it sometime, but I think most of my character ideas would be pretty obscure. I would love to do, like, Aerin from The Hero and the Crown sometime.

As for this week's reading, I finished Blood Brothers: The Story of the Strange Friendship between Sitting Bull and Buffalo Bill, which was a bit too scattered for me - it really had the ingredients for a great story, but it never really told it in a coherent way, so that was kind of a bummer.
After that, I started on A Curse So Dark and Lonely for IRL Book Club #3, which took me a little while to get into (I think I've just read too many Beauty and the Beast adaptations over the years!), but I'm enjoying now that I'm halfway through. It's hard to find a new wrinkle to the story, but the author seems to be doing enough different things with it to keep it interesting.
Thank you!
Also this is why I want a book party, give the chance to do more obscure costumes than would work at a regular Halloween party.
If I had more sewing skills I’d totally try to do the cover illustration gown for Mercedes lackeys Black Swan.

Not too much to report for me.
I'm still listening to Head On on my walks. Still enjoying it a lot. I want all the Scalzi for my audiobooks for now. I have another series in the wings once I'm done with this.
I am well into and should finish soon Artemis. The book finally picked up its pace for me and now I'm really enjoying it. I should finish this coming week.
That's it for me. I will probably put a couple non-fiction onto my library hold list and read whatever comes in first. We'll see what that is!
QOTW:
The short answer is no. The longer answer is maybe a few, technically. I don't really do costumes, cosplay, or go to conventions. The only place I do costumes is shows for my circus classes. However, I've done many flying trapeze student shows and each one has a theme. There was one show I was in that was Night Circus themed. I didn't dress up as anyone in particular, but I was in black and white and a little red. Another show was Alice in Wonderland themed and yet another was Peter Pan. Since those are also books, I guess they count.

Wow, November already!
Had a good Halloween yesterday. Weather was crap, but still had a good number of kids show up. I think a lot of new families have moved in over the last couple years, so even with mostly local, there's still a good amount.
Been in a bit of a reading slump, keep skipping around. Read some comics.
Finished:
Dead Witch Walking & The Good, the Bad, and the Undead for Kim Harrison's Hallows read through before American Demon comes out.
currently reading:
The Wreath - still slogging through this. Part of me wants to just DNF, but it's my last reading challenge book and I can just say I'm done and I finished 4 challenges.
Where the Crawdads Sing - only read a page or two so far, this is for my next books & brew. Not really in the mood for it but oh well!
QOTW:
Borrowing from popsugar again, because it's fun. Have you ever dressed up as a book character, either for Halloween or some other event?
I have quite a few, actually. I've done various iterations of Ravenclaw/witch/young McGonnagal for HP events or low-key Halloween. A couple years ago I also did a performer from the Night Circus.
I've done Laura Moon from American Gods, but tv show version with my husband as Mad Sweeney. https://www.instagram.com/p/BaxJyqSgk-q/
I've also done a ton of comic book characters.
Harley and Groot (bombshell harley version) https://www.instagram.com/p/ujz2IYspy3/
last year Gwenom https://www.instagram.com/p/BpaZzVnHqH4/
This year was Rogue (husband was gambit) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4D3ljnliXx/
Did a sort of Captain Marvel bound for seeing the movie, complete with Flerken https://www.instagram.com/p/Buzy_hPH4KM/
I love dressing up!
Some year I want to do a book party and have everyone dress up as a book character and serve food from various books.
I'd really like to do Cayce Pollard which is so obscure only other huge book nerds would get it. Luckily I'm friends with quite a few of them!
Buzz Rickson jackets are pretty expensive though, so not sure I'd go for it or not.
