NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 19 comments Hi everyone. The first time I read Educated I wanted to talk about it while I was reading it. There are interesting issues in every chapter. So, let's not wait until we're done with the book! This is a busy time of the year, so post as early or late as you want.

This is the No-Spoiler thread for Educated. Please do not discuss the ending or anything that might spoil the book for others.

Feel free to discuss first impressions. general comments, favorite characters, or anything at all from the first several chapters.

So, who has already started the book?

What are your favorite parts so far? Favorite characters? Any surprises?

Ellen | 226 comments I read Educated one year ago with my other book group and we had a very spirited discussion about it (it's an in-person book club). I don't plan to read it again (sorry!). But I am looking forward to the discussion here. Happy reading!

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 19 comments I'm rereading it now. The first time I read it, I was focused on the story and the insights about family, power, education, and the inherent difficulty of recording history in an accurate way. This time, I am really enjoying the prose. Some of her writing is really quite beautiful. I own this book on audible, and the narration is very good. I wish I also had a kindle this time, so that I could highlight the passages that I really liked.

Has anyone else started reading it?

I look forward to hearing what you thought. I'm reading it with a real life book club also this month, and I'm wondering what they'll think. Which topics sparked the spirited discussion? Can you post on the spoiler thread?
