if it's 50% or more set in Canada, it works. I haven't read it, so I can't verify that it is.

not necessarily. You need to read a book set 50% or more in Canada. I cannot verify that all the books listed on the website meet this requirement.

OK, thanks. I wasn't sure if being set in Canada was part of the requirement for the prize. I'll double-check any titles I pull off the website.

The task states that you must read a book set at least 50% in Canada.
Note that each of the 5 point tasks is inspired by an award. 5.3 is the only task that is in any way tied to that award. I can assure you that you would not be delighted with 5.4 if you had to read a book that won the award.

Sandy, I understand that...just wondering if it had to have won the award. I am guessing from your response the answer is "no, it does not have to have won the award".

Oddly enough (pun intended), I've actually read two of them.

According to your description, most of the book takes place in Canada. If it is, in fact, set at least 50% in Canada, it works for the task. You'll need to explain this when you post, since there's nothing in the metadata or GR description to indicate this. The fact that the author is Canadian is irrelevant.

I'm Thinking of Ending Things is written by a Canadian author. I haven't read it yet because I wanted to make sure it fit the task first, but by reading about it online I don't think the book ever explicitly says what country it is taking place in. The GR page doesn't list a location either.
However, when I use the GR Genre search function to find Books Set in Canada (linked here) the book is listed in the Most Read This Week section. So GR thinks it's set in Canada.
If this isn't enough to confirm it then I'll just suck it up and read the book, and provide a quote if there is one. If there isn't then I'll find somewhere else in the challenge to squeeze it in.
Thanks!

Settings cannot be confirmed, you always need to read the book to know for sure.
