My favorite "others" from 2014 so far have been:
Beautiful Wreck by Larissa Brown (time travel romance)
Prayers for the Stolen by Jennifer Clement (award-winning contemporary Mexican literature)

I might just read My Real Children sooner rather than later. The cover looks familiar. I must have skimmed past it a few times without reading the synopsis ... which is right-up-my-alley intriguing.

It was quite good. Covers something like sixty years so is told more like a series of connected vignettes, but I loved the premise of the main character remembering two distinct but contradictory lives (neither of which exactly matches the world we know).
I still have December to contemplate best books of the year however right now if the year was ended the Coveted Temporal Jester Award a highly objective award rewarded after much contemplation...actually its just the best book that I personally like in a given calendar year...
