Oh god it was absolutely amazing, albeit a few minor changes in the order of the events occuring. The only thing that really angered me, as it will many others I'm sure, was the omission of a particular scene which I'm not going to mention as it's a spoiler but you will all notice it straight away... because it's a scene we all secretly couldn't wait for when we read the book, I'm sure. :P
So that was annoying... but otherwise... that was actual cinematic perfection. There's no other way to put it.
Incredibly difficult watching Peeta's suffering, and scenes like the bombing of the hospital, but so stirring and heartfelt. Oh gosh it was perfect.
The best bit for me was probably when The Capitol bombs District 13, because of the way they filmed it. I don't think we have ever seen a proper representation of how people actually feel when they are hiding under ground as bombs are raining down on them. Yeah there are docos and stuff about it, but never prolonged enough to show how crazy it makes you go after a while. When you watch this scene in the movie you'll understand what I mean - finally you can truly see what it feels like. The acting is perfect, and the worst part is that you realise this is happening in the world right now. It's really horrifying.
Other than that, also have to say that THE WHOLE MOVIE WAS SO BLOODY SUSPENSEFUL! Couldn't believe how gripping they managed to make it - you were literally always on the edge of your seat because things kept happening so suddenly, it was kinda scary tbh.
Peeta's transformation and changes from Hijacking are a whole different story. I can't even discuss it lol, just makes me want to bawl. It's sickening to watch - incredibly depressing. Yes yes fictional character I know - but IDC it's Peeta, he didn't deserve the pain fml!
So yeah, lots more to say, and I have my own HG group that we started back in 2010, but needed a place with lots of members because right now I just need to let out my fandom feels. You know how it is. :P Please reply people. :) xx
