Glenn is aided by women who corresponded with him while in prison. This actually is a real life phenomena. What goes on with women who want to make connections and establish relationships with serial killers?

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments I think it's a confidence thing. They have very low confidence and men in prison don't care what someone looks like, just as long as they have someone to talk to. I think it makes these women finally feel needed/wanted.

It’s actually crazy! These men are dangerous.

There’s definitely something missing in these women’s lives and/or they have a warped sense of what to value in a man. Yes, he’s handsome but the charm really is missing once you go an inch deep under the surface. Why do they always think the guy is misunderstood and only they know his truth? Ted Bundy & Scott Peterson are two great examples of why not to give these guys a second glance.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I've heard of this before. I think some women just want the rush of corresponding with someone convicted of murder. Others are in some kind of Lala Land that they can help these men. I do think they probably have low self esteem and these men play on that building them up.

I love that the author included a profile of each type of woman who typically corresponds with these serial killers. Dillon’s profile was fascinating and it was helpful that there was an example portrayed for each.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments Dillon's profile was great and interesting. I wonder if the author actually speaks with an FBI profiler to get her information.

I have a vague recollection of her using professionals in law enforcement in her research.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments Those ring true to me, too; I must have learned this somewhere in the past and this reminded me. I feel sorry for any woman who resorts to corresponding with these guys, no matter what their motivation.
